No joke. I first looked at the aiming set and I was like, "why is this heavy armor". It's literally one step below tank, and looks heavier than Dragon gear. Then there is the issue that 95% of aiming gear looks like it was meant for bard, and bard alone. Don't get me wrong I don't mind the aesthetics of all the new gear on their own, and I think the tank gear would look amazing on a male paladin, but like they don't match the classes they are for. I think it was sam/monk gear that would fit aiming better, or it was ninja, than the actual aiming gear.

Gunbreaker is a bit more screwed because they just look wrong in full plate armor
Guess its a good thing an overwhelming majority of tank stuff isnt full plate then.

I've looked at most tank gear and gone "wtf?" for years now.

Even my favorite "this looks like it should be on a tank" tank sets have some version of flowy coat / plaedress to them.

I'm not saying they dont get a lot of good looking sets.

I'm saying they get a lot of sets that dont scream out "this heavier armor built for an MMO tank".

Problem being there aren't many distinct DNC/GNB sets like there are for the other classes. I understand that there are so many classes now they can't do it all, but it would make sense for the gear during the expansion/patch cycle that introduced new classes be themed after those classes during that expansion.

At least we still have gear design contest winners to look forward to.

Personally, I'm really looking forward to the melee set even though I won't have a job to equip it. Mostly because I'm dying to see how they take a form-fitting bodysuit design and manage to implement healer robes and tank trenchcoats from it.

RDM gear doesn't really fit either. It's a result of basing gear off of roles rather than jobs. It's a necessary evil to having so many jobs balanced against having limited gear design.

imo best solution all around is to create blank armor with stats tailored to specific job needs have these blank items drop at random in dungeons/raids, then dump a slew of attractive, interesting, and fun level 1 glamour pieces in game, have them drop from fates, raids, dungeon bosses, ect ect ect. There you go the real endgame in the main game, want to have nice things? Well you can go out and get them. Then SE doesn't have to see us complain about how this crap looks all the time. Get your blank gear then glamour them how you like, if there's a glam out there you want go hunt it, craft it, kill for it. And would somebody please get Yoshi P on the right track? It seems he never gets what it is we're actually asking for so when he answers questions he comes off a little misinformed and way off target.

Wow! Those look awesome. Ninja/sam would look amazing with the second one, and top would obviously look amazing on machinist, especially with the steampunk vibe they have going on with their artifact gear.

Speaking of the contest, I reeeeally wanted this entry to win (>_<):

I wish they would implement it at some point, though I know this will probably never happen
