Scouting gear in general has a much more fitting aesthetic for DNC than the likes of Aiming in my opinion.

The stat based armor sets made things really awkward.
In the previous games, your Knights, Warriors, and Dragoons all wore heavy armor. Your lesser armored peeps like Thieves, Ninjas, Bards, Red Mages and such used lighter armors. While White Mages, Black Mages, and such wore cloth-type armors.
Seeing Dancers use the same armors as Red Mages and Bards doesn't bother me. That doesn't happen because of how STR, DEX, and INT is handled.
But here's the real problem. What does STR do that INT doesn't? Think about that for a moment. STR increases damage of STR classes. DEX increases damage of DEX classes. What's the difference? Does DEX do anything appreciable for STR or INT classes? It does not. Hell 99% of the time they cannot wear the wrong stat. When they can, the boost they get is either non-existent, or doesn't matter (Here's the sum of what you get mixing stats... casters get better auto attack damage in melee from strength, so you might get 6 dmg instead of 5).
So I'm thinking I'd like to see different classes be grouped up by aesthetic. Rather than any silly stat type. Let the item level directly boost the job's needed stats directly. You see it on the item, and the stats change based on which job you are.
This would not apply to secondary stats.
So lets say a piece of gear for Gunbreaker can also be used by Machinist. When the Gunbreaker looks at it, they see a split between STR and VIT, and higher armor values. While a Machinist sees DEX and VIT and lesser armor. Same thing with Dragoons and Paladins and Warriors. As well as Red Mages, Bards, and Dancers. And the same as White Mages, Scholars, and Astrologians. And Black Mages and Summoners. And so forth and so forth.

Gear appearance is fine with me. It's the LB that bothers me! why does my dancer use crossbows? c'mon SE!

There's a reason I avoid casting gear like the plague when on my RDM, and healer gear to a lesser extent on SCH because a marine is not going to be running around in a dress and slippers while working. xD
I really wish they would loosen glamour restrictions.
And it was super frustrating when Yoshi P last answered this in an interview, he seemed to think people wanted to glam weapons cross job etc.
It's perfectly understandable that you can't glamour weapons cross job. It's perfectly understandable that artifact armor sets, which are iconic sets for specific jobs, can't be glamoured to other jobs.
But the vast majority of armor sets outside of those? It wouldn't be a problem. We have several sets with themes that are role agnostic. Shisui, sky rat, the 77 dungeon sets, the contest desgn winners that use a similar theme across armor sets, level 1 glamour crafted items, item sets from the MSQ, gold saucer bunny outfits, and more.
It's really not going to hurt job identity if a red mage glamours into Aiming gear. Or a dancer into healing gear. There are some healing sets that are more armored looking than some tank sets.

Thankfully there are tanking sets that fit the GNB Aesthetic still... though they are definitely not the norm. The Ravel Keeper set, The Lakeland set, the Alliance set, and the Nomad Set all look pretty good for GNB. Though maybe that's because I'm also a Xaela.
Sorry, but I needed to vent my frustration. Looking at the BRD/MCH/DNC Eden set, all I can think of is: WHY?
I was really counting on sharing gear with DNC to get my BRD some pretty outfits (T_T). Why on earth would a ranged class need a set like a DRG's? What were they thinking? Ranged are supposed to be light and agile, so why are they wearing armor and sharing gear with DRGs and tanks (I'm looking at you, gear from the level 61 dungeon). I was so hoping we'd get the set that the casters got. I mean, it fit the ranged image, in my opinion. But alas, we got a set that legit has not one single piece of gear that I see myself using. Also, how on earth did casters not get the set that looks like the healers' one? Did the dev team mix them up or something?

What annoys me most these days are accessories. Used to be you could glamour them to every job, but now that they are locked to certain jobs you need to have 5 of the same accessory if it was a favourite design, which is annoying space wise. And there are some very pretty DoH accessories I would love to be able to wear on my combat jobs.![]()

Yeah, when I checked the raid gear today I was also severely disappointed...like is it just me or does the aiming set look like it should have been the NIN set and the NIN set should have been aiming?? My first thoughts were that they backwards it or something.
Not that NIN doesn't deserve nice gear or anything...it just doesn't look like NIN gear. I actually thought it was healer or aiming when I first saw the patch note images.
I think NIN actually gets nice gear a lot of the time. However, the aiming gear hasn't been too great lately. The Shisui set we got was by far the worst among all the other sets. Our set from Alphascape is also the worst among all the rest. Granted, we do get nice gear from time to time, but it just feels like ranged has been getting the short end of the stick a lot.
Also, I know this is off topic but I don't get why they keep giving us different variants of the World of Darkness set. You've done it once, ok. Just choose another set to make dyeable (*cough* Wiping City set *cough*) and let us have more options.
