Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

Actually, and this is something I just recently learned, but male viera do not live in solitude for their entire lives. They are only given permission to seek solitude once they successfully complete the rite of passage. Well... this is probably a moot point since viera are known to have very long life spans. Perhaps their training to become a master is simply a small fragment of their life, and they very well may live in solitude for the majority of their lives.

I do wonder if there are some male viera that choose not to live in solitude. By completing the rite of passage, they are given permission to seek solitude, but that doesn't necessarily mean that's what all of them choose to do, is it? Maybe there are some male viera that prefer to remain in the groups they trained with or something?

As for your question, I do think male viera would have muscle, but I don't think they would be super buff. I've pointed at minafumi's artwork before as an example for how they might look. There's still muscle, and they are toned, but they are also very slim. Hmm.. if we're going by comic book heroes, I think spiderman would be a good comparison.

Well, yes, the rite of passage is performed by another male, someone posted the lore a few pages back. Once boys are of age, they are taken away, why you never see anything male in a female Vii village.

I could see spiderman too, he's sculpted well.

Again, in the lore, they are rarely seen and stick to the woods. If you have lore from the lore team stating otherwise I'd love to see it.

And when they are added in the future that lore does not matter at all. Then you will do the 24 man raid as a male viera while the NPC talks about never having seen a male Viera in his life. I mean they already did that with the Au Ra. You could run around in a city who still killed Au Ra on sight quite a few years ago and nobody would bat an eye. People can then be surprised about the Yugiri reveal while your Au Ra character stands next to her, who never got a reaction at all.

Ah I see. I do remember that, then. So based off of what Matsuno said, male viera seem to be like a light weight boxer.

Looking at him, he's in ~60kg category, light-weighted? (I didn't read this manga so I'm not sure) Well, quite good proportions actually. Fit to the shadow-living good enough for being sneaky and fast, and also not beeing too much fragile to die from one hit in face-to-face battle.

Interesting and it shows that the japanese do have a different view on body types. I do think this would fit Vieras (maybe a bit longer to fit more with the females) since they have power and some muscles but are "slim" enough to be fast and silent protectors of the forest. The bulky art a few pages back is showing a viera who is probably even bulkier than Roes and imo not really something that would fit the look of the race (would just be another Au Ra difference imo) and would make it really hard to silently go around the forest.

Please SE in the end just give us a gender that fits with the females. That dont play with the tropes of females being the good looking slim ones while the males are hulks.

Does it count that I am japanese, but not spoken it since I was 14? =P But that is the exact thing I've been trying Viera males to look like. Cut, pure raw strength. My Grandpa was the same way, muscles like wires even before he passed away. He looked small, but when his muscles moved, was weird and scary to look at when younger, but later learned anatomy and was like, Oooooo...

Actually he went from 66kg to 53kg before the rematch. He was at least 5'11 so the strain on his body was great combined with intense weight-loss training and a fight with a powerful foe(Joe).
He actually died shortly after the match. If he was shorter like Joe(5'4), he would have had less trouble pulling off that weight and still retain muscle mass. This is common boxing mentality.

As long as you still remember lol But yeah, at this height though, there will be problems with survival.
Some of my posts back were photos of actual Amazonian hunters who had pretty much the same physique except they were a lot shorter(Amazonians are located in South America, so it's common for them).
With this body type and a shorter height they will be better hunters and survivors in the long run.
