I have been also wondering something about the lore thing, which is the fact that with female roegadyn there wasnt even an excuse not to have them there as far as I'm concerned, they just werent there because reasons. I think this is a clear expample of how much lore limits a race

Roe's didn't have a lore reason to be genderlocked, they just 'were'. Just like female Ronso's don't need to be genderlocked, there is nothing in their lore that should have them be this - or so it was in previous games. Now they made the females disgustingly rare and have to go through pregnancy constantly. At least with male Viera, it wasn't so bad, since you only need a handful of males to start repopulation when there is a large number of females - this is not going into the whole biological standpoint regarding 'relation mixing'. This is why the Vii situation is somewhat salvageable, though they will be needing some fresh male 'genetics' in the mix after a while.

When the females are the rarity - things get bad.
