    DNC Steps: Uncontrollable AoEs are bad.

    So... I've been leveling my DNC through Beast Tribe quests and today I almost got myself killed again, because I misjudged how close passive mobs were when attempting to use Standard Finish.

    Finishes are AoE and you have no control over this, but yet they give a large damage increase and they deal a lot of damage themselves.

    Could we please get a tweak so that the AoE nature of Finishes will only hit targets that we already have threat on?

    EDIT: Either that, or give us a stance-like buff, maybe something like "Private Performance" or something that makes Finishes only deal damage to your currently targeted enemy (if there is one).

    Yeah, 15-yalms is like... huge. Why is it so big? Standard AOEs are 5~8y, why are finishes 15y?

    If I'm not mistaken, earlier I tried to fight a pugil next to a mudstone for a Ananta quest, and I wound up hitting another pugil that was outside of aggro range. It's so ridiculous.

    While I can understand the annoyance, that solution isn't needed when situational awareness is enough. Plus, that "solution" wouldn't work. If finishes only hit targets we already have threat on, then starting a fight off with standard finish would always miss, but that's the best way to start a fight.

    Then do the stance option then, which you could turn on or off.

    But having a 15y mandatory AoE is ridiculous, because a lot of times you don't HAVE 15y around you when you fight stuff for some of these quests because they like to stick tons of passive mobs around them.

    I don't seem to have this problem as a SMN, and like half its kit is AoE. Just remember to drag your mob off to the side before you shoot your phoenix fireblast.

    This here is true. You can always drag you opponent away from other mobs before using Standard finish. I'll admit this doesn't always work though, in like FATEs for example, since FATE mobs tend to link even if one is pulled sometimes.

    The vast majority of FATE mobs don’t link, actually. There are a few cases of boss FATEs where the minis will link to the boss, but it’s not typical FATE behavior. In most cases you can pull one to the edge of the circle and kill it in relative safety. Even better, figure out the repop point and drag a mob there. Then you can just keep killing the one mob over and over.
