Pulling the bosses In dungeons as DPS a thing now?

Are you stupid? We had brd/thf/rng/cors pull because we setup camp for EXP. You werent constantly running through an instance. You're comparing two completely different things here pal. If you're talking claiming kings or something it's still a stupid argument because you're leaving out JAwait and every spell have it's own cast time/recast.

my rules for dungeons are if everyone is in boss arena pull immediately if 1 person is out(like far out) they are telling me they are not ready so i won't pull. I'd rather have 4/4 ready to fight than 3/2/1 :P

As for your situation OP if you had said something like "i would like to pull the boss once i know everyone is ready" if they went well we were you just simply reply "Without typing it out, the ready check is the only way for me to know" etc. If people get aggressive at that then they are unpleasant, timers be damned if you word yourself to be looking out for the whole team they cannot really do anything about it.

Of Course its usually better to let the Tank pull to keep the pace.

But "You spank it, you tank it" was never a good approach. Tanking is the tanks job.

Imagine that with another role:
Healer suddenly doesn´t heal you anymore because you stood in an avoidable aoe?
"You let it hit, your Sh**"

Meele stops doing dps because the mob was turned and he didn´t get his positional?
"You turn it, you kill it"

Its always the Tanks that complain if they don´t get there "special Snowflake" treatment.

The problem I have with responses like this is they solve nothing and are so easily reversed. DPS entitlement at it's finest, thinking they rule the roost and can demand how others play. Why dont you stand with the rest of us and do your job, dealing damage, instead of pressing W and doing 0 damage.

There was another topic about this before ShB and has since died on this exact topic. Fact of the matter is, if you're going to silently run ahead and pull and disrepect the tank and the group, why is the tank suddenly obligated to respect you for it? It goes both ways. If that's entitlement and special snowflake syndrome, perhaps you should reevaluate some things.

Honestly, i find "you spank it, you tank it" a fine mantra. You felt that you had the durability, HP, and cooldowns to survive that pack, instead of the tank. I say good on you. If youre then going to cower behind your tank for protection, then why did you bother? The only people I'm going to force a pack off of (that I notice) are healers pulling ahead. because they, unlike DPS, are the ones the most "stressed" by this entire situation. If they can handle it, no reason not to.

....unless none of you know how to AoE. But thats a completely other discussion thats not completely relevant. If youre pulling ahead and don't AoE, you're out. I dont have any remorse, pity, or sympathy.


ALL that said, I'm going to side that it's rather petty to get uppity on the DPS pulling a boss when everyone's at the gate and waiting. Thaaaats going a bit far. I dunno if I woulda initiated a vote kick on OP, ut I would have accepted it. youre 1 GCD off from getting this ball rolling and instead you're splitting hairs and just draging things down. it's, like 2.5s and a boss pull. the initial PULL doesnt really matter. it's trash backs that are the only real relevant discussion point.

Lmao if a DPS thinks they're running the show and setting the pace, they can die to whatever they pull. If I'm the tank, I lead, I'm in the front, I decide how many mobs we fight, and I decide when the boss fight starts. That's why I picked tank. You don't get to hang around in the back as a DPS getting an easy ride through a dungeon until suddenly you get bored or want to be in charge. You don't get to have both.

If you want to pull, queue as tank. Every role has their place in a duty. Learn yours.

Yep, same, if everyone is inside the purple glowy line I pull immediately (as long as Healer looks okay on MP).

Actually nice to see people starting to kick tanks who think like that. Like already stated, self entitlement at its finest!

Oh, and DPS have an easy ride? Are you kidding? Tanking now is by far the easiest and most mind-numbing role of them all in a Dungeon. If anything, YOU should be thanking the DPS for burning things down quickly for you, while all you have to do is press one button for aggro and one button for CDs. SMH.

So i've made it to the lvl 80 dungeon grind as a tank. During one of the dungeons this dragoon would pull every boss as soon as we set foot in the arena. I like to do a countdown ranging from 5-10, usually 5 if the party is experienced and not new to it, but this DRG did not care.

I let the first boss slide, but the second time I did not, so i just let him tank the boss until he died and then established aggro. The whole party instantly hated me, and wanted me out of the dungeon asap, so i got kicked...

With the new aggro changes for tanks, is pulling as tank or doing a countdown/ready check even needed anymore in dungeons?

With how easy it is to get aggro / survive as a tank seems like a non factor. Though as Jandor mentioned they properly did not want to drop BoTD. Life goes on man, you are right though many do not even care who pulls what when it comes to dungeons has been that way for ages.
