Discrimination against PS4 users?

Yeah There is, I remember back when I use to play on ps4 there was a party finder for a static. Guy asked me a bunch of questions, then the last one was "do you play on ps4?" said yes and the guy couldn't even be bothered to politely decline, just straight up stopped responding after that lol.

Unless your sticks have been made/set to digital, we definitely can tell. M/KB players' characters start off sprinting and come to full stop when moving and stopping. Whereas controller players accelerate into a walk then run and likewise slow down when coming to a stop.

… I'm not sure what this "have been made/set to digital" exactly means but what? No? I use controller without any modifications and I start run right when I start moving and stop right when I stop moving. I only start moving with walking when I do this intentionally because I want to walk.

You can really tell who's never played this game with a controller.

Aside from the controlling issues (I hate the controller gameplay in this game), I can only spot PS4 players by them being stuck longer in loading instances or watching cutscenes longer due to quicker loading from my SSD. And the way they do their awkward turns - the same as you can do by right-clicking the mouse and then move the camera. And the higher chance they do not communicate.

But else? Mostly muscle memory.

It is rather funny though that the OP calls this "discrimination" and all the PS4 players jump in to defend their console and turn this thread into a "Console Master Race" in a blind reactism as if this would matter. Please don't.

I have all (!) my skills visually ready literally as they are on my keyboard, no weird visual moving when I press a button and changing layers so I can blindly press like you can on controllers. Plus I can easily click on the less important ones with the mouse. I play every game analog but FFXIV feels awkward to me. Maybe because I am also talkative and often chat with my FC, which requires me a lot of micromanagement (chats, quick inventory access,...) which you can't on controller obviously.

Probably like ike driving a car with joysticks - some would love it, some don't.

Or potato PC players. Or, well, HDD users. Both categories are quite common.

All of this you can do on controller as well without any problems. I often write message using skill at the same time so eh (though I'm PC player with controller so maybe it's easier for me but I doubt it). Same as I have all my skills visually available. M/KB and controller do not have advantages or disadvantages near to each to other, that's all the matter of you preference. You just do like to play with some tool or you do not, that's okay.

I have people in my guild who have cleared ultimate tier raids using a ps4 controller... a few who use a ps4 controller on the pc. Anyone not wanting to play with a ps4 player because of the controller being "Inferior" is honestly just has absolutely no clue what they are talking about. There is an issue in raiding involving ps4 though, lack of voice chat. It is common for pc raiders and people doing learning partys to use a common discord server. Personally when I make learning groups or make a raid static, being in voice is required. No Voice No Party that simple. Ps4/Pc I could care less about it is all about being able to listen/call shots and knowing how to perform at optimal efficiency. If you can do that with a controller more power to you. All I have to say is most those dps who cry about controller users... just know you are more then likely being horribly outdamaged by a lot of them.

My boo has cleared both ultimates and does top-tier DPS as SMN on controller... but if we play a game together where he needs to use a mouse and keyboard, he's a bumbling idiot. I tried simply just gathering on a controller and could barely use the camera. It's all about what someone is used to and competent with.

Perhaps PS4 owners might have a higher chance of being more casual than PC gamers, but I mean, one group bought a device specifically for gaming, and it's likely that members of the other group didn't... but then again, the traditional MMO crowd lives on PC.

I've never seen a PF singling out players of a specific platform, and I'm sure many others haven't either. But that's what PF is for-- find a party that meets your own individual specifications. It's not like you can't make your own party or join another.

Also to the “I could never imagine playing this on a controller folks!!” Out there, that’s cool for you, I could never imagine playing this on keyboard mouse, you play on what’s best for you and I’ll play on what’s best for me.

And to the load times thing, I’ve loaded in faster than some PC people with my PS4 Pro, you can tell nothing by load times.

TURN slower?
I use legacy controls, there is no "turn slower". (Why would anyone not use legacy controls?)
Unless you mean the camera, but then who does that, when you can zoom out further, so u can see behind you and to the side of you?
"Turn slower" doesnt apply to FFXIV. only in games like wow. (Which i played with a controller as well, or w/o a mouse, and it was a slight disadvantage)

I don't use legacy controls, but what confuses me is people are still turning using keys? How is it useful? I replaced my turning keys with stafe back in ARR and I am certain it's better for quick dodging, and frees up some keys close to my hand XD

Huh. The PS4 players I've played with didn't get hit anymore than anyone else would. I'd say the main difference between PS4 players and PC players is that not all of PS4 players have access to keyboards, so the ones without a keyboard either emote more or come off quiet.
