Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

Maybe I am dense but I do not buy that many want Male Veria for the sake of fairness or more options. If that was the case people would ask for Lalafell type looking race to be added a freaky hairy potato, though really do not see much of that.

It is all personal desire and opinion I do not understand why people are getting offended on either side for differing desires and opinion. Though I do think more people would be supportive if they were more honest with why they wanted certain things added instead of hiding behind things like representation, equality or what have you. Sure for some that might be the case.

The only reason why ppl want male viera is because we got the females. There was a huge demand for the viera race as a whole, and there is even more demand for males, mostly because it consists of a combination of the viera race demand, players who are against genderlocks as a whole, ppl who care about politics, ppl who wanna see how male viera might look like and ppl who wanna play wood elves who are actually decent

You can say I'm a bit OCD that's why I have strong feelings toward equality. No one would ask for Lalafell, because: we have Lalafell.

I wouldn't actually play a male viera, most definitely would not. However, I would like there to be some actual consistency and a basis for what the races look like, or how they act at a base level in the game. an entire foot worth of height difference is ridiculous and there is no need for a shorter than miqo'te male viera.

If you wouldn’t even play a male Viera then why are you trying to contribute to the discussion of their height? It doesn’t affect you.

I think part of why I want to see female Viera be the taller ones of their race is because they’re Amazonian queens, basically. They’re the only ones people have seen to date, and have a matriarchal culture. So, to me, they’re the “dominant” ones; the females should be dominant since their race/culture is female-dominant. That doesn’t mean male Viera have to be effeminate/emasculated. The males can still be aggressive, tall, and muscular – even as tall as hyur males because Viera female are still taller. The height difference doesn’t need to be as drastic as the Au Ra. In art history, the hierarchical scale also suggested importance: the taller figures were the more important figures, either being kings or gods. Since they’re “the queens,” they should be taller.

Beauty standards? I don't know about you, but fat viera wouldn't make any sense and their body right now makes total sense given the physical activity they do.

Where in the First did you get "fat" from my statement when I was talking about pale skin? I never mentioned weight.

Mozzystar is right in his statement about how white-washed 99% of the Viis (Viera) were in Shadowbringers. There's literally a total of maybe 2 dark skin Viera in all of, and I don't mean the pitch-black/grey ones which are Veena (corpse color), I mean dark skin as in Fran. Rak'Tika was very unsatisfactory to me as far as Viera goes. … I can only hope that in 6.0 they'll actually add Golmore Jungle with the correct lore; mountain snow Veena and jungle Rava.

^ This is the issue. The issue is that the original Viera are mostly represented as dark-skinned beauties in the majority of the games they're in (just look at the wikipedia); not only that, but the Viera village that we went to which was (I think) supposed to be based off the Golmore Jungle. Instead, the majority of SHB had pale Viera and the Golmore knock off village had showcased pale-skinned beauties as to those like Fran’s clan.

If SE mixed up light and dark tones (because there are veena and there are rava, and having an array of different tones makes for fantastic customisation), I wouldn't have noticed honestly. But as it stands, the vast majority of notable viera NPCs are pale and that's an issue because that is definitely a beauty standard for women in many parts of the world, and that isn't how the Viera were originally represented.

So, now that I've made my point very clear (I think it was clear already but hey): are you just arguing for the sake of arguing? Because nowhere did I mention anything about weight. As far as I’m concerned, your comment is so left field. If anything, you saying "can women not be beautiful anymore" is a bit shoddy considering I'm talking about skin colour and nothing else. I could twist your comment so badly if put into context of what I’ve been talking about, but I won’t because I know you didn’t intend that.

Fortunately, I've found that there's a good mix of the two clans in the player base–including your own viera... So, why couldn't SE mix them up as players did? That’s just something I don’t understand.

Anyway, I’m not going to keep this up because I’ve made my points. There’s no reason to keep repeating. You think what you think, I think what I think. Having different opinions isn’t a bad thing.

On the point of what the future of male Viera is I'd say that as long as the story focuses on the First we won't see anything about them. So we better hold on tight, they won't mention them until at least 5.4; actually no, I'd say they will only be talked about in the last patch in 5.5. The First doesn't have enough Viera for them to be talked about, they're incredibly inconsequential in the First. You can count on 1 hand how many male Viera there are in that planet. So yeah, until the story shifts to the Source they won't even mention them. I'm saying this to say, expect absolutely nothing about male Viera from the devs until they need to sell tickets for fanfest in December 2020. The wait and unrelenting debate about male Viera will continue for a long time without any new information on them. I just hope it stops being about how we should make them females without breasts.

It's not the color though, it's the symbolism behind it. Let's take a race which has been only shown to be dark skin and let's introduce them in XIV as light skin and blonde. The ONE race in all of the of FF franchise that was actually (mostly) dark skin haha. I just find it funny more than anything, the XIV devs are really interesting folk.

The thing about male Viera only being hinted until December 2020 is sad though. Viera (female) were hinted at in patch 4.3 if I remember correctly when they were listed as one of the races residing in Dalmasca, so that was much earlier than male Viera which won't be really talked about until the story moves away from the First and into the Source again which that should be around 5.5. There will literally be nothing new to talk about regarding male Viera for almost 2 full years.
