Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

How about variety because people want it? We already have multiple buff/ripped/elegant male body types.

If we're going that route again, we also already have multiple slimmer/cutesy/skinny male body types.
Lalafell, Midlander, Elezen, Miqo'te.

Mozzystar is right in his statement about how white-washed 99% of the Viis (Viera) were in Shadowbringers. There's literally a total of maybe 2 dark skin Viera in all of, and I don't mean the pitch-black/grey ones which are Veena (corpse color), I mean dark skin as in Fran.

Rak'Tika was very unsatisfactory to me as far as Viera goes. Most of the story seemed to focus on the Blessed and that tribe of people than on the Viera. With that in mind I can only hope that in 6.0 they'll actually add Golmore Jungle with the correct lore; mountain snow Veena and jungle Rava. Just like how they will most likely add Hrothgar's homeland in 6.0. I just get this feeling that they're gonna say "we already gave them Rak'Tika, no more Viera locations." But that's the entire problem, Rak'Tika was a very bad representation of Viera in my opinion.
Going into Golmore Jungle would allow male Viera to be presented in a credible way, and we still have Fran's Lente's Tears story to explore. We've seen how much raids are tying together with the MSQ now, I'm pretty sure they won't leave Dalmasca's story and what happened at the end of the MSQ at Ridorana hanging.

So we'll see, there's still a good possibility of us going to Golmore. I had to go express how weird the whole experience at Rak'Tika was for me as the introduction to Viera, it was off. I felt like I was back in the Black Shroud more than in a viera village where both clans exist as one (Viis). Instead it felt like a Veena village.

The question is, what is it that you want? I've seen people ask for female-men, that jives with the background/lore of male Viera. I've seen people ask for skinny, that's what male Elezen are.
But please do tell, what is it that you want?

I'm generally not a fan of real world issues being projected onto the game in general, though - especially when it boasts players from all over the world and from many different cultures; some of which aren't all that invested in 'outrage culture' to begin with.

Then I guess you also would dislike every FPS game since all of them are placed in a war setting and that's a real world issue. Or any games that displays any form of fantasy racism because that mirrors a real world issue, Doki Doki Lit club displays issues with depression and that's a real world issue as well. Hell in TV realm even sesame street had an episode where it dealt with children who's fathers were incarcerated, and had a muppet that was HIV+ (Which was...interesting.) The list can go on the more hairs you split.

My point being, A lot of media has "real world issues being projected" in it, many of which nobody complains about because it's not issues that make them personally uncomfortable. But to say "No irl issues in video games ever" is a very unrealistic opinion to have, as you would essentially just thanos snap all the entertainment we have, and media would not be allowed to be any deeper than teletubbies.

It doesn't matter anyways because Yoshi-P said they would be tall and slender like Elezen, and Matsuno got a comission of male Viera that is shockingly, tall-looking and slender.

I expect them to be tall and slender, not chibis or body builders, unless they both change their mind...

It's a stereotype based on female beauty standards in at least two realms of the globe: Asian and Western continents. And yes, it is offensive when vii/viera are supposed to be darker-skinned, very strong and independent female warriors. We only had one "dark" skinned female NPC in pretty much the entire SHB storyline, and she wasn't even as dark as the viera in XII where Vii/Viera were inspired from (based on SE comments). Not only that, but they gave female viera the OK because scantily clad women with bunny ears (ahem, playboy bunny and such) but heaven forbid if men can be scantily clad with bunny ears.

Beauty standards? I don't know about you, but fat viera wouldn't make any sense and their body right now makes total sense given the physical activity they do.

It's like a girls not allowed to be pretty anymore.

I disagree, keeping people talking about the topic of Male Viera is how we keep this issue alive, otherwise people will assume that everyone forgot about them, nobody would say anything and squeenix can get away with doing whatever they want because people will eventually stop caring.

Voicing opinions on something once when the issue is fresh and then dropping it after 3 days is not how change gets made. It took years of prodding at Squeenix before the bunny suits got their genderlock removed. Sure you could say something about arguing with other users, but that's honestly the nature of the beast, people are going to disagree wherever there is people.

Besides, all these posts keep the male Viera thread bumped anyway, so it shows that this is an issue not going away at least for right now.
