Meanwhile BLM gets a lot of tradeoffs for its high DPS. Having a uniquely bad time without a pocket healer need not be one of them.
None of which is a detriment in group content (which is most content in FFXIV); meanwhile DPS is highly valued... so I'd say a fair trade.

Also; Have you ever used Second Wind? It's 15-20% at best... BRD and MCH only have Second Wind... SMN only has Physick (not worth the cast time) and Titan Shield; 20% every 30 seconds; which isn't bad but won't exactly save you for long... and if you want a pocket healer use a Chocobo... or just play RDM if want self-sustain (on a DPS) that badly.
