I think if he takes anything from Skyrim into FFXIV I would like it to be the fluidity of the storytelling. Imagine quests taking you from the main story to looking for some ancient crystal, to looking for a legendary weapon, to fighting off a dragon, all so seamlessly that it all feels like a single quest.

That and probably the thought process on leveling.
Early levels=easy to medium difficulty to obtain but little reward
Later levels = hard to obtain but great reward

That plus knowing this games love for references I fully expect some NPC to comment on arrows... and their knees.

Yoshi-P be trolling. Unless he means Bethesda's PR and Brand Management team's success. The game itself would give an MMO as much as my pet squirrel could give Obama.

    Nice try though.

Also, if reviewers give a game a perfect score, such as the reviewer for famitsu, and they praise the level of detail on display that creates that level of immersion, it is fair to say that it is because of that level of detail that they rated the game perfectly. If the level of detail resonates that strongly with a reviewer to give it a perfect score (again, something that famitsu had never done with a western-developed game prior to Skyrim) then it is safe to say that it is one of the reasons that players love the game as well. The amount of detail draws the player in. There's a reason it's the most played game on Steam right now, dwarfing even the numbers of the F2P TF2. This is one of Biggs's more dubious claims, sure, and as such, more difficult to prove, but that doesn't mean it's not true.

I think I used wrong word to explain... was looking up the JP word and english dictionary and mortified seemed to be the right word... anyways just to fix my post up...

So yes, he's both embarrassed and motivated to work hard on his MMO.
This is what I meant by when YoshiP said mortified, it's JP word 悔しい (kuyashii) where you feel, sad that you couldn't meet up with same or do better... like... say you practiced really hard for a basketball game of 21 with NBA player 1 on 1 and you thought you will at least get it to 19 to 21 and lose but instead you lost 0 to 21... then you feel 悔しい probably didn't use the right word to explain what YoshiP meant in that interview, sorry hope you guys get it now.

In this case he felt sad that FFXIV was nothing close to what Skyrim delivered at launch.

Aside from the fact that he clearly has no concept of what general knowledge is as well as his inability to seperate opinions from facts on his own, I believe we can safely let this one go, as nothing we will ever say will phase him, despite mountains of evidence to the contrary. Gotta admire him for that at least. My claim that people love Bethesda games for their level of detail and their ability to make a world feel alive stems from the fact that its a fantasy sandbox game. Sandbox games in general are games catering to those that want to play in a vast, open world with no restrictions on where to go first or what to do. By assuming that this is one of the core elements that people enjoy about games like these, and that the developer would spend a great deal of time trying to accomplish this within their genre, I suppose I have strayed outside the bounds of his level of common sense. His last post highlights why I ducked out early on arguing with him. He just won't ever get it man.

Because if you put a bucket on someones head in RL, they wouldn't kick you in the balls. Oh and raining frozen bears. The day Bethesda can make an open world game like anything close to how well Red Dead Redemption was done, i'll care.

Yeah, the only thing you can really do is just /facepalm. Glad to see I'm not the only one who loves TES series for what it is. Almost like a living world. God the lore and history in that game is so rich. It's amazing to see a developer pour such time and energy into creating just those two things alone. I honestly wouldn't have had the patiences to do so :P *ahem S.....AHEM E* Just saying.

    Reinheart,

Thanks for translating. We as a community really appreciate it. It is interesting to see Yoshi-P's reaction to TES V: Skyrim. Glad he seems inspired and motivated to want to get this game on track to where is should be. Keeping my fingers crossed for him that he and his team can pull it off.

Speaking of which, it is absolutely hilarious how people will jump on someone for liking this game or any other FF game but god forbid you point out the flaws of skyrim that people are willingly looking past every time they load the game.

I used to play FFXIV like you, until I took an arrow in the knee. @_@
