I am 99% certain they will never go to the extreme of adding trust to 24 mans or trials. It is mainly to eleviate queue times for Main Story since they keep insisting on adding dps and with it longer queue times (unless you heal or tank).
I am actually very happy they are implementing it.

The Trust system seems to be fun and I think it will be useful for reasons like you've stated along with many others. I take long breaks from the game, especially in 4.0. When I come back I usually play on dummies to get a feel for the job(s) again, then try a few guildhests, to wet my feet and slowly get into dungeons. Even then, I don't remember exactly the entire dungeon. You get people who are worn out from playing and want to push the dungeon as quickly as possible, which is reasonable in their eyes. Either way, it's a struggle on my end until I get back into shape.

In the end some understand completely when I say it, others get upset. Or I get good adapting quickly on my own, then again some jobs / dungeons I take a little longer to get into better performance with.

So I plan to use the Trust system for that, so I can go into newer dungeons with them if I take a break, come back and can screw up on my own time without someone over the internet yelling, then leaving and making a 15 - 20 min dungeon into a long wait period for a tank or healer, though I'm starting ShB as a tank again, it was fun until I took a long break.

Or if I know I have 40 minutes and the queue is long for DPS, I'd rather get in a Trust run rather than wait, or quit if I need to do something (I have a baby on the way so when it's my time I can tell Thancred to slow his roll.) or the occasional wife aggro!

They have stated they will not implement the trust system into allince raids, trials, or raids. Only instanced dungeons and right now only 5.0 msq dungeons, they will take feedback about backwards implementing it into other dungeons but only other dungeons.

This system is meant to help foster people into learning their roles and new content and to help people with high anxiety learn new roles in a more controlled space while also allowing some people who dont have time to spend 40 minutes in a queue to queue up faster. This helps alleviate the dreaded dps queues.. this game works pretty tirelessly at also promoting the social aspect, with hunts, trials, raids, eureka like content, baldesion arsenal, the restoration of ishgard is server wide progression.. trusts are just another tool we can utilize or not. Its entirely optional.

Tried it today on the first msq dungeon. Liked it. Npcs did their roles, I did mine, nobody ran ahead, complained or bagged on people and nobody died. Was a blessing and NO dps queues!.

this will entice new or older player to learn job and leveling up the que for dps is horrible

I am a tank and this is my first time feeling the " first try no youtube" moment, you know... tank must always know the mechanic beforehand

So far I'm loving the trust system. Much smarter AI than squadrons and a great alternative to using duty finder. ofc there are other benefits to playing in a party, but when you're gated in the story until you clear a certain dungeon it's a far better alternative than waiting over 30 mins if you're a dps or it's too late/early in the day for most players to be online.

I love the Trust system, brings a welcome RPG feel to the game. For me, it adds to the story. The cutscenes show the characters leading up to the dungeon and then you go through it with them. Appeals to my play style.

I mainly use Trust to learn the dungeon as the NPCs will position for mechanics. After I’m comfortable, I’ll go in with other players.

Plus the NPCs don’t get salty if we wipe, I just get moaned at by them if I throw out a heal as a RDM
