With the Trust system announcement, I am really worried the game is removing the MMO aspect of it. It's one thing to share a common world, it's another thing to actually get to play with other players. With the latests interviews, Yoshi-P mentioned they are discussing about expending this Trust system to more than just 5.0 scenario dungeons.

I do agree there are some good sides to this, especially for people with serious anxiety issues and stuff like that. But in the end, human nature has always been the following:"Why do it with others if I can be served just as well by myself?"

And then, when will it end ? I see it coming
"We are implementing Trust system for Normal raids because people want to see content and should not feel forced to play with others"

And then :" 24 man raids are now doable with 23 NPCs!!!"

Or: "Savage content is now doable with Trust system, because players who want BiS gear should not feel forced to play in a group"

Trust system is the way to get rid of the MMO aspect of the game.

I am seriously scared this is gonna be the downfall of FFXIV is they expand this feature.

I would really love to say out loud that I've been wrong once it comes out, but honestly, downsides are way more important for that feature alone...

Now that's my opinion. But I'm worried.
its IMPOSSIBLE to "remove" the mmo aspect. you gotta remember this isnt about you and this isnt about people. its about the individual and how THEY want to play. just like in real life some people wanna play with people some wanna play alone! The loners have just as much right as the extroverts. Now sleep at night and end this doom and gloom. its a game enjoy and dont worry about the future. SE are masters in this field. they know what they are doing.

From what I've seen, reviews of the TRUST system say it takes longer with the NPCs then it would with PCs so I don't think there's anything to worry about here OP. What I do see this doing is elevating some of the DPS queue wait times if you going back over dungeons for leveling alts or secondary jobs or letting people who want some solo time have that. Regardless of what improvements they've made to NPC's in it, it's not going to be proactive enough to do end game raid/trial content.

I think it's a great idea the Trust system, currently 2 weeks from the release of ShB, I see an unlikely number of Noob in the dungeon, people with stuff, but unable to provide a good Dps is distressing!

From what I've seen on video, it looks good, as Naoki Yoshida says in an interview, if you have to control AI it will not work well, but if these AI are well programmed with good scripts, it can work, like some fight in MSQ.

The event FFXV, to show us that it could work well, I had no problem managing the tactics with Noctis, just put the boss and see where he left and we act accordingly.

I think this event was a very good example that it can work and often it's better than some Noob in a dungeon.

Regarding your concern about the spirit of MMO, the Trust system is made for MSQ dungeons only, alternative dungeons might not be concerned.

Whatever the effectiveness of this system it will remain inferior to a good group of players.

The trust system takes longer than with a competent group. I don't see it replacing players.

I love the idea of trust dungeons and I hope they expand on it a lot in time.

I dread dungeons with real people due to toxic and childish behaviors so I am looking forward to trust. I will most likely hit the first set on my main and then use trust for job chars that I am not as adept with.

The Trust system seems to be fun and I think it will be useful for reasons like you've stated along with many others. I take long breaks from the game, especially in 4.0. When I come back I usually play on dummies to get a feel for the job(s) again, then try a few guildhests, to wet my feet and slowly get into dungeons. Even then, I don't remember exactly the entire dungeon. You get people who are worn out from playing and want to push the dungeon as quickly as possible, which is reasonable in their eyes. Either way, it's a struggle on my end until I get back into shape.

In the end some understand completely when I say it, others get upset. Or I get good adapting quickly on my own, then again some jobs / dungeons I take a little longer to get into better performance with.

So I plan to use the Trust system for that, so I can go into newer dungeons with them if I take a break, come back and can screw up on my own time without someone over the internet yelling, then leaving and making a 15 - 20 min dungeon into a long wait period for a tank or healer, though I'm starting ShB as a tank again, it was fun until I took a long break.

Or if I know I have 40 minutes and the queue is long for DPS, I'd rather get in a Trust run rather than wait, or quit if I need to do something (I have a baby on the way so when it's my time I can tell Thancred to slow his roll.) or the occasional wife aggro!

The only thing I worry about the Trust system is it clogging the server instancing system, since rather than 1,000 groups of 4, you could potentially have 4,000 solo instances running.
