    You dont know their numbers, it means absolutely nothing if 90% of wow servers are literal ghost towns with 5 people in each city.
    And i fail to see how does average (its definitely not massive) twitch presence and other people achivements benefits you as a mmorpg player.
    Wow is "harder" than ffxiv, its a incredibly big time sink and go figure that out how its going well for them. Better mmo 5 years ago yes, not today.

    They are taking the first steps towards dumbing down and you can catch them blindly imitating WoW and others at times, much like SWTOR did. Ad hoc redesigns instead of progressive transformation, reduced group focus and synergy, the cracks are showing.

    If you’re talking about people who consistently wipe due to failure to execute the fight properly, and then crow that the fight should be nerfed, they did fail an objective standard. The game set the bar, they fell below the bar.

    That's perfectly fine! That's the objective bar I'm talking about.
    But kicking someone from a dungeon because they don't live up to your standards is not an objective standard.

    FFXIV was never meant to be hard. It's major selling point has always been the Main Story. It's impressive in terms of lore and it does offer a real challenge with end-game raids and Savage raids.

    However, I do think the game has become a bit of a cakewalk for new players. The (i)level-sync formula, the iLvl jump entering HW and SB, it all makes some trials and dungeons ridiculously easy for new players even without playing them with an undersized party. A friend of mine is going through the game and he only found problems doing 2.x and 3.x EX primals with wipe mechanics for now. Perhaps it would help to tweak the (i)level sync of dungeons a bit for the sake of keeping some degree of challenge for newcomers. I don't know.

    I remember a game that was made to cater to the hardcore group it was called Wildstar, what happened to that game? I have seen this topic for years and at the end of the day to keep the game alive you have to keep some points easy, this is why they have savage here, mythic in wow, etc. As someone who has played Wow since beta and just recently stopped, I definitely prefer this game.

    As one of those dirty “hardcore gamers,” let me tell you I had zero interest in Wildstar, ever.

    All of their advertising about being oh-so-hardcore was “telegraphs, Telegraphs, TELEGRAPHS!!!!!!!111111one”

    That doesn’t sound like a hardcore MMORPG to me at all. That sounds like a bullet hell game. That’s fine, those can be fun. But I’m not interested in sinking thousands of hours into one (especially one with a hamfisted furry aesthetic for some reason).

    So I really don’t agree with the trotting out of Wildstar as a reason why a difficult game can’t be well-received. There are a lot of other reasons it doesn’t appeal to MMORPG players.

    But you were specifically responding to someone’s post about people whining about being “unable to clear content,” at least without being carried. So the person you sniped at was also saying something you seem to agree with. He didn’t say he wants people to “pull their own weight” by parsing 99% or higher. Just that if their skill level was the average in the party, that should be a party that clears. If they’re well below an average that would be able to clear, that’s not players telling you you’re bad. That’s the game doing it.

    I miss those days. Demon wall was like the first big hurdle where my Dragoon was challenged. Felt so good when my party first beat it (after at least one wipe).

    And yeah, Titan was amazing back then. Most of the 2.x trials seemed great.

    I am not saying that today's content is bad in comparison, but I am definitely biased towards them due to it being where I started my journey through Eorzea.
