FYI, the whole "You're only playing Fem Highlander/Fem Roe/etc because people protested" only matters if you assume they wouldn't be comfortable playing any other race and gender.

The "I'll die/unsub if I can't play X race and Y gender" population is an extremely tiny minority.

nobody said they'll die if they can't play as a male viera, and the ppl who will unsub is a minority.
That dosen't mean that if SE dropped male viera they'd make a huge load of money, and that many ppl would liek to have male vier playable

Then stop trying to strong-arm people into supporting your cause by implying they're hypocrites based solely on what race and gender they happen to be playing ("You wouldn't be playing Fem Highlander/Roe if it wasn't for us").

You have your right not to suppor it, and we shouldn't advertise anything to gain more support, this is simply to show SE is worth it, which has already been done, now we can only wait for 2 years sadly.

Also, it kinda surprises me though. Female higlanders (what you are playing) were obtained by a thread like this

Oh yeah, I get that. I think I'm in that minority which is more reasonable than most. I play male characters only - I really dislike female toons as my fps has their breasts bounce uncontrollably and it's just ??? . Anyway, I've been like that since I first picked up my first RPG. If a game only had a female protag then chances are I wouldn't play it. It's one reason why I, unfortunately, have zero desire to play Nier. I can deal with being a Hyur, I can make do as the default derplander. But Viera has and always will be my favourite race. Of course, the argument may be 'But if they were your favourite and only saw the females then you should be able to handle playing as one.' You'd be wrong there. I loved FF12, I had Fran in my party but she was never my primary. When I say Viera is my favourite race it's more the lore that goes with them and how they carry themselves. In a way, the Viera was honestly the first 'race' I had properly seen as a young gamer who were strong, elegant black women. As a child that made me feel so good about myself, like damn they were amazing.

Now I'm not going to go into freaking, politics about race and all that - but it struck a chord with me anyway as a young little black girl. Now, I'm an adult. Now I hate the whole hip swing, not that I think its sexist but more than it just buggers me off and most of the female vocals make me grunt. I can admire them for what they are and what they did for me as a kid - as pathetic as that sounds. But I could never really be one due to my own gripes playing as a female toon.

So I'm here for this, why can't I play as a tribalistic black male (Rava Viera), it's what appeals to me - it's what I wish to play. Plenty will argue that, 'well any race can be this colour and that' - you'd be damn right there as well. But It's the lore, their history, their lifestyle and more that attracts me.

But Gwenorai why don't you just play as a Miqote? Because they're small and their hands look like they've got arthritis. Why don't you play as an Elezen? I'm not into giraffes. Au'ra? The way they run/stand and just look like slender man puts me off. Highlander? You mean the one face everyone uses and yet lacks eyebrows. Roe, no. I'm not touching lala with a 10000ft pole.


Note; this isn't me pushing some sort of hidden agenda, this isn't me screaming that I've been slighted because I can't play as what I imagine more to be a jungle Amazon tribesman. This isn't me thinking that square enix is racist, sexist, etc... I just didn't get what I personally wanted. And that's okay. I'm fine with that. I can wait. I'm not looking for validation - I just want the chuffing dark skinned bunny man that's from a tribalistic background with traits that show maturity, savagery and grace - without looking like I'm a twink wanting to meet daddy as soon as I step into a city.

The reason being is that a large chunk of male viera supporters acted like children when male Hrothgar were announced. Yes, a large chunk. It was absolutely appalling to see the things being said about the race, the devs, and Yoshi P himself. You yourself even took shots at Hrothgar. All it takes is a short read through the first ten pages to set how childish people were.

So before you start saying others have a vendetta against viera, maybe look at how you acted when Hrothgar came out, because it's not pretty.

This is exactly it and that impact has stayed in peoples minds everywhere. It's not that people have a vendetta against male Viera is that we are all darn tired of getting attacked just because we were excited for Hrothgar.

Highlanders are not supposed to have eyebrows. It's in the lore. Little reason to snip back at the person just because they shared their opinion. At least they gave a reason other than "I want to spite all the male viera supporters!"or something. Let's try to keep it respectful even if we don't agree with someone's opinion, yeah?

Respect is a two way street, you're right. But, being the bigger person is also a good concept to follow, in my opinion. Obviously don't be someone's door mat, but don't come out of the gate firing, I suppose? Just my opinion on it.

I feel you honestly, and I feel for you. That being said, male viera supportes as a whole don't think that way, and I hope that the wounds can begin to heal soon

Male hrotgar don't deserve the hate they're getting. I personally just don't like them at all, but I think that some ppl attacked the ppl who liked them. I also did at the beggining and I apologized, and it was mostly because male hrot ppls were already mad and aggressive

Ok, but can we not blame people for the actions of others? You saw how I was being treated in the other thread. Someone accused me of having an agenda, and I'm assuming they meant it as something political. (Funny they accused me of hiding things, but then they edited that comment out.) They literally never talked to me before, and knew nothing about me. It's like I'm a caricature of all the unreasonable people who lashed out when no male viera was announced. It's all being taken out on people who didn't have anything to do with the lashing out that happened. Nothing but irrational and belligerent.

Male Hrothgar people were mad and aggressive so you attacked them? Dude, first, why would they be angry? They just got Hrothgar. They were ecstatic. They didn't go out of their way to put you down. They were targeted for getting what they wanted. I was told to "Go f*** yourself" because I said "I'm so excited we got ronso!" I had people cussing me out because I was happy. These were the same people raging that male viera wasn't added. Don't try to scapegoat the Hrothgar supporters for your rage.
