That's an odd way of framing it - shouldn't they be grateful I have maintained a $15 sub for this game for the past 6 or so years?

It has little to do with that, in the end. They're not doing this as charity work and neither am I buying the game just to support some cause. I will continue to sub to the game for as long as the content appeals enough to me. Obviously I accept that in some cases they will spend on things of lesser interest to me, but it does not change the nature of the transaction here.
Perhaps it was worded strangely, yes, in a poor attempt at perspective. And don't get me wrong, I'm not championing the "no male Viera" flag in the slightest; I would LOVE to see a male gender of them. But I also understand and accept their reasons for not bringing them to the game.

Your concern is so very touching, though it takes more than a forum thread to stress me out.

I'm just glad their reasons are primarily monetary in nature, since that means they will consider their addition if the cost-benefit ratio is right.

I just want to see how much or how little male Viera are talked about in Shadowbringers, it could give us a hint on the state of male Viera. In the Ivalice raid story they purposely talked about them "as if they don't exist." If that same narrative continues in Shadowbringers it will be a sign that they're not critical enough to be added; of course this is up for debate but Yoshida told us to read the how Matsuno in the Ivalice story describes male Viera to see whether male Viera would be added or not. It was in one of the interviews around February.

I think whatever changes come to male viera they won't begin production(if they are approved) until probably 5.1 or .2 as that's when roughly Viera and Hrothgar began development yes? I do not expect too much from the missing genders to come in Shadowbringers outside of text mentions about the hrothgar queen probably tied to Gunbreaker or the status of the Rhatika greatwood and the wood wardens.
Though I will be pleasantly surprised if more robust information is given

all i want is a definitive answer but they're scared of either answer. See if they dont ever say no we dont get mad because we have "hope". But if they say yes then its a matter of "ok when???" (and given where we're at w egi glamours or how long male bunny suits took) I wouldn't hold my breath.

I just want a yes we're going to work on it but we don't know how long it'll take or a no we're not going to devote time and resources towards it. But total silence?? That bothers me

Huh? Total silence? That's not true at all.

Yoshida says that they WILL work on the other genders IF they can find the time and resources. But he isn't willing to promise that they definitely will make them, because he doesn't know if they'll find the time and resources.

And he most certainly isn't willing to just say no either, because that's not their position on the matter.

We have the best answer we can get. Complaining about this answer makes zero logical sense.

You got one and you're not going to get more than this in my opinion for quite some time.

I went to the promotion page and here is what they say in German.

    Viera:

This small folk which name means "Dweller of the forest" lived originally on the continent Othard. For a long time they lived as a small, secluded community deep in the woods, but now you can see some coming into the territory of the other races. Adult male Viera are rarely seen. The Viera look similiar to HYuran and Elezen but have long, hairy ears on top of their head.

(Please note that this is my tranlation)

This is what they say about Viera on the english version:

Of tall stature and slender frame, the Viera's physical appearance is strikingly similar to that of the Hyur and Elezen, save for their distinctive long ears. Adhering to a strict code known as the Green Word, they are prohibited from contact with the outside world under threat of exile. Their society is purely matriarchal, and males of age are seldom, if ever, found within the bounds of any village. They instead serve as protectors of the wood from the shadows, that no evil may ever encroach on their sacred lands.

Interestingly while the german translation does say that males are rarely seen (which kinda means that someone has seen them!), here they go a bit further and talk how they are protectors of the wood from the shadows. They also explain that contact with the outside world is prohibited, while the german part says nothing about that and just talks that they are going out. I honestly see a big difference in how they are showing the race just in that. And as far as I can remember the japanese is more similiar to the german one? But would be interesting to have someone else give that translation.

    Now onto the Hrothgar:

    My translation:
Because of their sharp claws and fangs the hrothgar, who live in Ilsabard, were seen as a barbaric folk. Their imposing, big cat like form created quite the conflicts with other races. In the end it was the use of the same language that brought understanding and approach. The birth of a female is such a extraordinary event, that you rarely will see female Horthgars.

    The english official info:

Hailing from the distant shores of Ilsabard, the Hrothgar are a burly people of lionlike appearance—or the males are, at least. Females number staggeringly few among their population, and thus are rarely so much as glimpsed by the other races.

The Hrothgar's imposing countenance─mitigated not at all by their sharp claws and still sharper fangs—incited panic amongst Eorzeans upon their arrival. As they were also unable to communicate, initial interactions with the commonfolk often escalated into conflict. It was not until the Hrothgar gained mastery of the common tongue that fears were allayed, and in time they would be as neighbors, welcome in all corners of the realm.

The males at least is english version only. The rest seems to be much more similiar.

I seen a video that yoshida said viera and horgar would be the last added races of the game, that they wont add more.
