Also, yes.
I want this SO BAD!

Thumbs up for the OP's video link.

This might sound like a downer post at first, but I assure you it most certainly isn't.
I just want to say, you will never be able to get those feelings back. XI's closeness to you is something that cannot be recreated because there are so many mental factors that play in why we connect with something like this. A deep seeded connection to an MMO is very similar to a long term relationship or a religion really.
However, in those things when they are lost or left behind we're still able to find it again, but it's different. It's not the same nor will it ever be. I just hope that everyone can let those exact feelings go in order to open up to a new Final Fantasy. With 2.0, I strongly agree with the OP's points and I hope they find their own way to bring that kind of magic to their game.
Just make sure to value FFXIV 2.0 for what it will be and not for what similarities there are to your former love. That's when you start to never give the new part of your life a chance at meaning anything to you!
Sorry to get all deep and stuff, but that's just how I feel about it. :P
Edit: Oh! and since we're handing out things that made us feel so nostalgic this one always gets me.

We have this already, just go to Gridania near the archer/botanis guild, there are butterflies at daytime, fireflies at night. There are birds flying around in thanalan, too. Movement of the grass and trees is lacking though.

AH HA! So we have pinpointed the exact root to FFXIV's failure. I'm sure the devs will fix this issue immediately. Watch the subscriptions pile in like a baby fawn prancing in the morning dew after a ferociously gentle storm passed thy yesternight.
One... Two... I count three buckets full of sarcasm dripping from your post!
It's the first day of the year and I'm hangover, I blame alcohol for the incompleteness of my previous post!
What I meant was, the game has those little details already but since it was released prematurely they most likely didn't have time to add all of it. Watching those videos, I agree they need to add more of those things to ffxiv. Since they're abandoning the idea of an seamless world (which didnt work anyway) and going back to zones, it's more likely they will be able to add more of it without having to deal with memory issues.

Oh look, the fish even move in the water there. In Limsa's aquariums the fish all stand still.
Yaa, They took away some little things like MOB AI, ; ; makes me sad.
That was a good video showing off the uniqueness of Vana'Diel. If there's anything the "copy-pasta" of FFXIV ruined, it's memorable features like this. Let's hope 2.0 doesn't repeat the same mistake. Please make places rememberable, I wanna look back and be like, "Wow great times, wish I could go back and do it all over again." I wanna remember all the little things. I want to have another great adventure!
