The known problem with this solution is people will pressure people to skip. Thus why it's simply unskippable. This is really the best solution thusfar.
The issue with the MSQ roulette though is the fact that the fights themselves are either skipped or pulled enmasse. Every new player that I see go in there dies at least 2-3 times. And then are left behind to run to catch up, some don't even catch up before the dungeon is done. Thus defeating the purpose of restricting cutscene skipping. And this problem is caused by the fact the item level sync is tuned way too high. If this was changed to something in the ballpark of 50-60, then we wouldn't see these mass pulls. The fights would be no harder than Auram Vale or Dzemael Darkhold.
When these dungeons were current, our item level was 45-50. We were in our job AF gear and Grand Company weapon. The dungeons were challenging, but nothing too hard for the majority of us. New players coming to FFXIV are better prepared and can handle that content (I mean they'll see Nidhogg and Shinryu after anyway). And unable to actually skip through droves of NPCs, we'll be able to slow it down so that these players won't be left behind, in fact we'll want them to be with us for the extra damage, healing, or tanking they'll be doing.
The duty still requires 2 tanks. Lets make use of them again.
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
You should know ppl would just DC and re que later... We got what we deserved. If you dont like em, dont run it. But im totally in for a harder lvl sync...
Or ya know, join an fc or make at least a single friend and let them unsynch annihilate the place. Am I recalling this wrong? You could unsynch them before this no-skipping-CS nonsense was added right? I wish it would be changed back though because doing mentor roulettes and getting msq dungeons is synonymous with 30min deserter debuff.

I just skip them. It was super annoying doing them my first time. I didn't get to watch the cut scenes because I didn't want to get left behind. I honestly wish it had been like it is now back then. New people who have never experienced the story line of the game deserve a little patience...much more than we give them at times and this is the solution to that problem. I don't necessarily like it anymore but I understand it. I would much rather have someone be able to watch and enjoy the story line for the first time than for me to have yet another quick run.
When I first went through Cast and Prae, I watched the cutscenes. I queued and entered as PLD. I was told not to worry about it, enjoy the cutscenes. Which I did. And when it was my turn to take the reigns, I told the newcomers the same thing. Enjoy the cutscenes! You'll be running this place plenty in the future. Enjoy your first time, kick back, relax, enjoy the show as it plays out.
Since this change, I never queue for MSQ roulette anymore. The rewards aren't enough to justify being stuck in a single dungeon for 30-60 minutes when I can clear 2-5 roulettes in the same amount of time otherwise. And I know I'm not the only one. Which means there are fewer and fewer people queuing for MSQ roulette, which means longer queues for newcomers. This change might have been good in the short term, but in the long run it will result in new people hitting a road block in the MSQ because they won't be able to progress past this point.
All forward and backward talking is pointless, there are two options. We get what we deserved and cant skip at all - OR - make it a solo duty. Ofc they went the easy way...

If you have a new person, it will be fairly obvious who elected not to skip the cut scenes. This leaves them open to ridicule for "making this take forever!!"
What they should do is allow you to skip the cut scenes if you unsync it.
