Hairstyle Concerns for The New Races

Its really sad that their limitation is happening. I am still not sure what exactly is different from Vieras to other races so that they cant get every single hairstyle but at least they will get some of them back..but Hrothgar really suffer for that imo. It was already bad that Au Ra had their horn and faces stuck together (thankfully I liked one combination of it) but they could at least choose their hair. Hrothgar are stuck with a face + mane combination and cant change it that much. I would be surprised if they get lots of new options in the expansion seeing how we even got less normal hairstyles too..I somehow doubt that they would create new faces with manes a couple of times on top of new hairstyles for the rest..Either we will all suffer thanks to that and get even less new hair or Hrothgar might be stuck with the options for a longer time.

I at least hope that they open the face changing option for Hrothgars ingame otherwise people have to buy a fantasia each single time..

How often is "every single time" going to be for the average player?

Also from what I've seen, the hairstyles are fairly similar from one face to the next anyway.

It's really not as dire as you're making it out to be.

1- The Hrothgar race currently has 16 hair styles just like the Viera (8 unique hair styles and each face has an option to enhance that hairstyle, like like the Viera's 8 unique and 8 bang versions)
2- We have straight up confirmation from Yoshi that we will be getting new Hrothgar only hair post 5.0 release (and it seems like he's saying we can expect new faces as well). Like, he points out how they're prepared already to make the new hair and faces.
3- Hrothgar's hair is actually way more simple than the other races because it's made to look beast like. There's no highlights, it's mostly large sections of hair, not nearly as neat or detailed as other hairs and it will never have to fit other faces/ races. I see no reason to think they will only get a few.

What I predict ...

SE could make like 24 new styles (like 3 for each face and their face feature add on) but people will still not think it's as much as it is cause of the very nature of it being connected to faces. Cause that's exactly how things are rn.

Anyway, I'm much more interested in how Hrothgar will be changing hair (would SE make us pay money for a face change even if it's just to change the hair style? I don't think so personally, will find out soon enough I guess) and how exactly new hair will be added. Will they just add new faces with 2 unique hairs each and just give us everything from Mountain lion to saber tooth tiger to jackals and hyenas? Will they add hair that all the faces can use or would it be unique to each face like it is now? Would they be willing to translate current and future unlock hairs into unique fur patterns so that we still have reason to care about them? The patterns are legit just textures so it's not like it requires modeling.

As for Viera it's pretty much how I assumed things would be handled. They have never had to think about a race with it's ears on the top of it's skull before so logically there's some styles that just wont be able to work around that. How many they will get? No clue, we only know "some". I personally assume that in the end that number will also be matched in Hrothgar's hair count.

I'm so stoked to play Hrothgar. The expansion can't come soon enough. And Yoshi P confirming that we'll be seeing Hrothgar only hair released in the future only makes my more excited to see how this race evolves and unfolds over time.

I'm honestly really puzzled by people who are trying to spin the hrothgar head customisation state into something positive. Sorry but I fail to see the upside of having hair styles locked to faces. Everyone would have more choice if the hair was unlocked, even if the amount of faces and hairstyles remained the same.

I'm fine with SE wanting to maintain some measure of lore accuracy by limiting what races have access to certain hairstyles. But I seriously doubt there are lore reasons for certain hairstyles being paired with only certain faces.

It's simply unnecessarily restrictive design and it's so difficult to understand why it was introduced when it's a well known fact that the playerbase dislikes au ra horns being locked to faces. SE already had a point of reference to see how the players would feel about something like this, and managed to not only fail to take it into account but also make a worse version of the au ra horn restriction.

The thing about hrothgar is what if i wanted a certain face and a certain hair to go with instead of being forced a hairstyle i wanted but not the face. This isn't customization, it's limitation.

Right, but we don't know how that will expand in the future. It sounds like they plan to add more manes to them, whether it's locked to a face or not, we don't know yet. I just don't see the point in being negative about something that has unknown factors. As for how they are right now, I can easily make many options I enjoy, so I'm happy. Hopefully you get something to be happy about too.
