See, I'm not even clear on that... I'd assume so, but one never knows with SE... Likewise, some of the Job gauges saw reworks and I'd assume those have to carry over to PvP, but will they?

All information apparently not important enough to clarify. Trend of PvP players just being forgotten continues.

All these changes to PvE; Charge skills, Shields showing on HP bar, TP removal, Gauge adjustments, and new skills. No clue if any of that is coming to PvP because there was zero mention of it at all... Should we just assume, after two years of hoping for positive changes to PvP, that 5.0 wont change a damn thing then? So tired of the radio silence PvP receives from the development team... Not even an "Of course, Dancer and Gunbreaker will be coming to PvP", kinda feel like that needs clarifying when Blue Mage could easily have but didn't...

You've got a Live Letter with over 60,000 viewers despite almost an hour of technical difficulties, talking about the upcoming expansion and the various changes to content it will bring, and absolutely nothing is done to involve the PvP community in that... Sends an absolutely horrible message to the community, IMO. FATEs are more important than PvP, I guess... I get PvP is typically met with ResidentSleeper spam when it is (rarely) mentioned, but part of me thinks that has something to do with the fact that there is just nobody talking about it with anything remotely resembling enthusiasm... Yoshida seems to talk about eating steak for longer and with more enjoyment than he ever has about PvP... The development team seems to show no confidence in the game mode, so why should the players?

We'll probably get our own little mention at some point, off in the corner somewhere, segregated off from the rest of the XIV playerbase, just to appease those who still play PvP in this game... Wont bring in any new players though, 99% of the audience for that stream, or article, or whatever, are going to be existing PvPers hoping for something, anything... I'd thought the FRC might be a turning point for PvP in this game, but I guess it was more of a death rattle...
I agree with you, we simply have not had alot of love for the pvp community from our developers. Pvp needs to become as relevant as PVe. I used to play a chinese mmorpg called Silkroad online when I was younger, and the PVp in that game was amazingly good. Some people would just do pvp all day, that being said pve was just as important. So I mean like it can be done, but it needs to feel more authentic. I feel like they try to balance the crap out of everything, but I believe that in pvp balance is not necessarily the answer. pvp inherently should favor the stronger/better fighter with more stats and hours. Also I feel like we need open world pvp where you can challenge a fellow adventurer to a duel this is how it was done in Silkroad and often the better player with a better class and stats would end up winning, but the fighting was so engaging. I will have a link to the Silkroad pvp in my post:

I guess it's for the best for them to say nothing. After all, this time two years ago they were saying "Maybe we'll add more actions back in later", and we all know how that played out... Better to disappoint us now, than constantly over the next two years. At least we go in with no hope this time.

things like PVP and Gold Saucer etc will be updated in 5.1. (according to FrostyTV's interview with Yoshi-P)

They want people to enjoy the story and raid first. PVP later so that it doesn't compete with people's time for it.

Not that Mentors matter in the slightest, but once again... It's very telling of the developers mindset that, when talking about the changes to obtaining Mentor status, they go into details what changes for PvE Mentor status and Trader Mentor status, but make zero mention of PvP Mentor status.

getting mentor status unlocks all the flavors of mentor that you can set on your character including PVP Mentor.

Ye but why? Why does a crafting nerd gets to be PvP mentor? Why has the PvP mentor a white flag? Why can't we unlock PvP mentor with PvP ?

cuz mentor is mentor? I dunno. I assume they think that people will not put on a PVP mentor status if they are not good at PVP. but you know how people are.. they lie and misrepresent themselves all the time...
