    5.0 PvP?

Anyone else find it fairly unacceptable that PvP didn't get the slightest mention in the recent Live Letter?

All these changes to PvE; Charge skills, Shields showing on HP bar, TP removal, Gauge adjustments, and new skills. No clue if any of that is coming to PvP because there was zero mention of it at all... Should we just assume, after two years of hoping for positive changes to PvP, that 5.0 wont change a damn thing then? So tired of the radio silence PvP receives from the development team... Not even an "Of course, Dancer and Gunbreaker will be coming to PvP", kinda feel like that needs clarifying when Blue Mage could easily have but didn't...

You've got a Live Letter with over 60,000 viewers despite almost an hour of technical difficulties, talking about the upcoming expansion and the various changes to content it will bring, and absolutely nothing is done to involve the PvP community in that... Sends an absolutely horrible message to the community, IMO. FATEs are more important than PvP, I guess... I get PvP is typically met with ResidentSleeper spam when it is (rarely) mentioned, but part of me thinks that has something to do with the fact that there is just nobody talking about it with anything remotely resembling enthusiasm... Yoshida seems to talk about eating steak for longer and with more enjoyment than he ever has about PvP... The development team seems to show no confidence in the game mode, so why should the players?

We'll probably get our own little mention at some point, off in the corner somewhere, segregated off from the rest of the XIV playerbase, just to appease those who still play PvP in this game... Wont bring in any new players though, 99% of the audience for that stream, or article, or whatever, are going to be existing PvPers hoping for something, anything... I'd thought the FRC might be a turning point for PvP in this game, but I guess it was more of a death rattle...

dont know how old and reliable its ,but it said something about adding knowback resistance in 5.0.

anyway, it looks like next big improvement is going to be emote banning to save people from nasty and rude players like me xD, so im not personally so eager to read any news lol.

seriously they barely speak about crafting also ,and it has a way bigger community than pvp, i think you should be patient and wait e3 or maybe even 5.1 or 5.2 patch notes.

I would assume it'll be discussed in the next live letter as its the last one before ShB. That's like June 13-14 I believe.

I don't know much how will be focused on it but I would assume there will be something, maybe a new mode.

They probably not gonna change anything major, maybe some small adjustments or even dumb it down even more to make pvp easier to accsess for new players.

See, I'd just like clarity on whether the PvE changes, which seem pretty fundamental to the whole game, are going to impact PvP or not... This Live Letter seemed like the perfect time to at least mention mentioning such a thing, if they didn't have time for PvP they could at least have said they'll talk about it later, but instead we get nothing...

Like, TP being removed should have a pretty big impact on PvP, no? PvP is the only place in this game where using TP, and using it wisely, has an impact. With 4.0 they split PvP off from PvE completely though, so does that mean PvP will still have TP? I don't know, because they've not explained that in the Live Letter where they specifically talked about removing TP... Same thing with Job Gauges... New players already find the shift from PvE to PvP skills confusing, I feel that'll be worse if PvP maintains the current 4.0 Gauges while PvE moves onto 5.0 Gauges, given there were some changes. Machinist in particular looks like an entirely new Job...

It is sadly often like that regarding PvP. When they started the FRC they released the rules very shortly before qualifying too, multiple longterm teams had to reform their groups because of eligibility issues for example. The next LightParty season starts in 3 days and we don't really know what we are fighting for yet.
Seasonal events like that need preparation a) to find a team and practice with b) advertising to generate a hype, interest about it.
Only releasing info when it is already happening next day or days is a bit too late, it is not making more people play it, it is just annoying to plan for the players then, imo.

The media guys are allowed to talk in a few days so let's see what they can tell us. Frostys interview is the only outlook we have atm, and it looks like lloyd already said, only minor changes. I just hope they change the participation rewards and wolfcollars, if you cant get top100 you should still get something at least. (a black not special weapon that I can grind after 3-4 seasons is not desirable)

Their competitor's expansion has released a six step-plan of how they will implement their expansion.

We don't even know what pvp will look like in one month.

If Square ever want pvp to be anything other than an afterthought, they're doing a god-awful job of setting that precedent.

I'm guessing this is all we can expect to hear regarding PvP, then...

Better than nothing I guess, but when you consider the kinds of answers PvE content has had in the past, even for content in a similar situation (still in the "planning" stages), they at least gave some information on what it is they're thinking... Guess it's hard to give such answers for PvP though, given they're just making it up as they go along...

Hopefully the Frontlines changes are at least decent... Glad they've forgotten Rival Wings doesn't even pop, and I guess Feast changes will happen in 6.1, since it took them 6 major patches to finally address Frontlines... Honestly I'm just thankful they didn't just announce a Battle Royale PvP mode, that's never going to work with this games PvP population, but after Rival Wings it seems SE likes to chase current trends...

I don't believe we will hear any additional info regarding the 5.0 PvP changes until we see the path notes.

I don't expect there will be any changes aside from adjusting classes for the fact that TP is going away. TP actions will instead consume MP.

Hmm, if previous information is anything to go by, it sounds like they will add another Seize map like Seal Rock at 5.1.
