I don't know if any of this was mentioned but these are my thoughts.

Innocence isnt a sin eater like the others. I feel that they, since we don't know if they are male or female, are "human" in some form. I have two thoughts on that. Either they are someone who will become Innocence, someone new or old. Or I feel that they are a part of Minfilia. There has to be a reason why she's regressed to a child. Maybe it's because her Innocence was ripped from her.

But that doesn't really discredit my thought, if anything it sorta supports it.

Except the flood predates Minfilia changing into a younger person and thus sin eaters as well, it is possible Innocence used to be humanoid but i find it far less likely Innocence has a direct connection to Minfilia's being outside wanting her dead.

I can sorta see that. But there is the possibility of time flowing a bit differently on the 1st, like the whole Alex thing though I doubt they'd repeat that. But we do know one thing, there will be a connection to Minfilia in some way because of who she represents.

Do we know when Sin Eaters first appeared? The Flood of Light seems to have literally been just that, I don't see much need for Sin Eaters to exist when a blinding Light is engulfing the land in a Flood... Minfilia stopped that flood though, and I imagine the crystal tidal wave we can see in not-Thanalan is the result of that.

I'd imagine Sin Eaters came about after the Flood was halted, in an attempt to get it going again. I don't believe the Firsts Warriors mentioned anything about Sin Eaters when we encountered them, they simply mentioned the Flood leaving nothing in its path. It sounded like there was nothing they could fight against with it, and Sin Eaters are very much something you can fight against.
