It is veeery likely that in Shadowbringers there will still be a lot of downtime between healing needed. In the beginning maybe not as much as now. Maybe the healing requirements will indeed be a little higher with all these changes and instead of needing oGCDs almost exclusively we\\'ll have to cast some GCDs here and there as well. But I\\'m like 100% sure there will still be enough downtime that healers will still be able to DPS a lot.
I'm happy to explain my mindset. Regardless of personal feelings, in a game in which the creators are literally pushing for something they call a "pure healer" and removing DPS skills to support this clearly the intended way to play this role is to heal.

This being the case, how can someone who does nothing but heal be considered as not doing their job? That is their job, assuming no one is dead. The argument over DPS is other players putting their expectations on others and really has no standing aside from individual play style.

I'm not arguing if a healer should DPS or not. I'm arguing it's no one else's business if they do or not as long as they are fulfilling their party role. We don't put this same expectation on any other role. Is a tank who is not using all of their defensive abilities constantly a bad tank? As long as they have hate and are in position for us not to be cleaved, they are doing their job.
