That's what I've been hoping for, so the arguments on the appearance of male Viera feel rather tiresome now. So far there's only the concept art to go on and we know it's subject to change. On the "fierce defenders of the forest" side, the same can be said of elves in any fantasy work and they tend to be tall, wispy, and elegant.Honestly, I am more amazed that the bickering has continued. This is the internet, so perhaps I shouldn't have had such lofty expectations here, but I would have expected that part to die down early on and then have this thread present a more unified, positive vibe surrounding the male Viera.
On the "indistinguishable until 13" side, we don't know HOW they're hit by puberty. They may go feral and suddenly get Highlander physiques, or the only difference may be the secondary sexual characteristics. We don't know and, while we may have our preferences, it's ultimately up to SE to decide.
I may have my own preferences (and even shared fan art of the same), but would be equally ok with either build (although the elezen-like build seems more likely thanks to Yoshi-P's comment), the point is getting them.
Just genuinely curious. If Yoshida/GMs tells you soon that VieraMale and Hrothgar Females will be added with 6.0 Expansion. Will you be accepting about that and let the thread die, or will you keep going on about this issue?
As I myself have come to accept they probably will add them in the next expansion personally as the Devs clearly has shown that they know you all want these race/genders. It just sounds like you do not, and are like myself when I was a kid and kept begging my parents for X or Y until they caved and gave in.
This is just how I personally view you guys who think making demands are like. Kids, impatient, entitled, demanding, self centered etc.
I want you all to get the stuff you guys want dont get me wrong. I just have different ways of looking on things and accept what I have/get.
I myself have quite a list of changes and additions I would love to see ingame, but I also know there is a thing called time and how much someone can actually do within that timespace. Not many MMOs comes out with several races and classes pr expansions. Usually it is 1 new race, or 1 new class.
No one's making demands.Just genuinely curious. If Yoshida/GMs tells you soon that VieraMale and Hrothgar Females will be added with 6.0 Expansion. Will you be accepting about that and let the thread die, or will you keep going on about this issue?

Yeah, the problem with this sort of analysis is it assumes the build is the issue. Whilst it probably a decisive factor at extremes like Lalafell or Roegadyn, you have Elezen - a slimmer race - played at a lower rate than Au Ra, who in turn are just over double the amount of Roegadyn men and nearly at double the figures of Elezen. Stiffness and lack of fluidity, plus bizarre proportions, can all play a role. In the case of Au Ra men, a lot of people take issue with the clipping. Next to no one is asking for mViera to look like Roegadyn males, anyway. They're in an entirely different category. However, a race with the fluidity of Miqo'te animations and a similar build to either Elezen or Au Ra is likely to do pretty well. What is really wrong with the artwork? The faces may look a bit strange (but Viera are no humans either) but otherwise the body itself is just that of a slim person with maybe the neck being a bit off but as Senn pointed out, these are sketches. Nothing else on that artwork is bad and we have simply no clue on what the demand would be. (And I am not sure how you see Lalas being something that Senn wants when he has pointed out Omega M countless of times which is the body type of that Viera artwork with a correct neck)
In the end the most played male characters are the kittens and the hyurs, so I kinda doubt that there would not be a demand in that part for male Viera.
Roes themselves are the second least played male characters, only the male Au Ra are worse. Yet those that like bulky men are going to get Hrothgar on top of that, so I doubt that the last male would be another one of those. I also doubt that they would be smaller than female Au Ra. Everything else is imo still open, so I dont think we should say that there is not much appetite for such a male Viera when its mostly about Omega type body which would fit quite nicely in the game and would make them quite similiar to the female Viera. And seeing how most people are playing the more slender or normal built men but at the same time those dont have well proportioned tall men, I feel that this is exactly the place where male Vieras would fit.
Edit: Seemingly Roe do land behind Au Ra if you only look at the active players so its even worse for them.
I plan to reduce my posting on the issue if/when they give such confirmation, plus an idea of what they have in mind for them. I don't consider this to be an issue of entitlement, impatience etc. It's simply a question of whether the game will continue to be value for money for some people if they don't add them. As I've said before, it's unlikely to make me unsub (no planned graphics updates/char customisation enhancement though by 6.0 could swing it for me), but I can see why some people would regard it as an issue.Just genuinely curious. I would at least be happy that we would know they will be added... but eh waiting until 6.0 .. gah.Just genuinely curious. I would overall wanna see them added sometime in 5.x
In the hypothetical that in the next Live Letter Yoshi-P says "We listened to your feedback and will introduce male Viera and female Hrothgar in our next espansion, please look forward to it", I predict there'd be around 20 pages of pure cheering mixed with some posters complaining that "the terrorists have won/why did SE listen to the whiners?". Eventually, the thread may indeed devolve into arguments over how they should look like, but will probably die off in a few weeks. We got confirmation after all.Just genuinely curious. If Yoshida/GMs tells you soon that VieraMale and Hrothgar Females will be added with 6.0 Expansion. Will you be accepting about that and let the thread die, or will you keep going on about this issue?

That scenario is, of course, downright impossible: the dev team has a lot of stuff on their plate right now, and will probably even start to think about implementing them about 2 weeks to a month after 5.0 release. Until we have official confirmation, it's ok to keep up (respectful) support while being realistic (that is, people can HOPE we see them by x patch, but not expect it to be done and done).
Edit:
I HAD been thinking that the bulk of the "Viera needs to fill x niche" can instead be tacked on to a CC expansion/upgrade. Both the "male highlander with better faces" and "male elezen done right" crowds could be satisfied while letting Viera be... the dev's view on male Viera.Yeah, the problem with this sort of analysis is it assumes the build is the issue. Yes, if they were to go so far as to allow for differing builds for each race. Although I doubt it'd go quite so far, that would be ideal.
When the game's story becomes self-aware:
So I have a theory, I’ve mentioned it before and it COULD happen but then it couldn’t. So during ShB yoship states we will know that male viera exist due to npcs mentioning them. I wonder if we will get more in depth about their appearance. We might find out if they are taller than females, body type, the fur patch, proportions, etc. I’m hoping during this we will get some hints on if they are confirmed or not. I know I’m probably over exaggerating but why would they make more lore, even change the lore on male viera if they weren’t going to be added? Unless it’s just the same thing the dramaturge said.
