The genderlocks are currently harming the community as a hole currently. There's many people who are aggressive towards others on both sides, and as someone who has played since 1.0, I think that from 2.0 onwards the community was never as toxic as now

You're just looking at history through a nostalgic lens.

The genderlocks are incapable of "harming a community" because what does that even mean? Genderlocks can't do anything, aggressive people being hyperbolic can. When we found out about the gender locks a lot of people who were mad at them got online and reacted in exceedingly dramatic ways. Go back to the beginning of this thread and others like it from that time and it's a total mess.

If the genderlocks have in any way lead to an element of toxicity aimed at people who want them removed it started when this "community" was raging about how the devs were sexist and homophobic or when this "community" (even recently) took it upon themselves to call for the exclusion of some content in order to get what they want.

People who want the missing genders, male Viera in particular, have painted the vast majority of the target that's on their own backs right now through really poor behavior. This isn't the fault of the genderlock but rather of the lack of self control evident in many male Viera supporters.

Let's be very clear - while I don't expect it to happen the easiest solution to this issue is for the people who want male Viera to move on from this and accept the dev decision. That doesn't require any kind of content loss to do, it doesn't require any concessions from SE or anything like that. Just maturity from the playerbase.

I'm a girl and really would rather not play female viera (or female anything) especially with them looking the way they do. That's an invitation for unwanted attention, the reason why I play a guy is I can go through the game blissfully unbothered except for the rare moment when someone wants to compliment my minion or glamour which is always a nice, warm a fuzzy thing. I would really, really like to play a male viera--a taller guy with even proportions and a little bit more meat on his bones, but not too much.

I really don't see why this request generates so much drama. Strange accusations flying around everywhere, general bitterness (sometimes ridiculously acrid all things considered), I could go on. People are simply requesting that the other half of a race be added to a game they have a monthly subscription to--this is entitlement, yes! But when you're paying for something, you are absolutely entitled to put in your two cents, to ask for something, to complain. You are a paying customer. If I went to an Italian restaurant and they didn't have garlic bread I'd be entitled to say "hey you should have garlic bread, the meal feels incomplete without it and I wouldn't feel inclined to return if you don't have it. At best I'll order take out and make my own garlic bread at home, so you can say goodbye to my tips/impulse orders."

This is like a situation where a party sat down at a table--one half of the table ordered a pizza, and the other half ordered cheeseburgers--then the waiter brought them a cheeseburger pizza. Cheeseburger side wants their cheeseburgers, pizza side wants their pepperoni pizza. I have no idea what God Tier Restaurant they're at that has both, but I'm hoping that things will be settled in everyone's favor, for everyone's sake. I mean good lord I wouldn't wish cheeseburger pizza on anyone to begin with it's an affront to both foods.

Yeah, they could add them as NPCs. But I think if they figure out how to get past the issues he mentioned, they could add them as playable characters. Sorry, but unless I get a solid no from the dev team, I simply don't see them as off the table, and I also don't see any problem with requesting them.

I think the devs are aware that people would ask for male viera to be playable even more if there are male viera NPCs.

Part of the reason why female viera and male hrothgar npcs were not going to be wearing glasses was because the devs were aware players would ask why they can't wear glasses on their characters. This was before the devs worked hard to implement over 540 head items for the new races and make them available at launch. The same logic applies here. The devs are aware there is a demand for male viera, and it is unlikely they will show us a male viera NPC unless they have plans to make them playable as well.

Just because you agree with it makes it no less huge and annoying. Its not even theirs. I will never understand whey peopel put other peoples quotes in their sig, especially when its multiple. Theres ones bigger than his and I dont care what they say. It also seems to be a certain type of poster that does it......

Let's not derail the thread with forum signature policing. I believe it's permitted for them to be that size anyway.
