Keep telling yourself that.
ps: Son? what? Not even sure why you call me like this, far as knowing, been there, as far as the old experience, others might have more than you think just so you know… Community is still quite alive, and the game mechanics too.

I still play XI on Phoenix.
More than XIV.
Ghishlain from Ragnarok here/ Played from near the beginning of WotG to the release of FFXIV AAR. Was on Carbuncle, Gilgamesh, and Asura for a little bit too.

I do miss it at times but I know the game is aged and I don't really have the patience for it anymore either.
With that being said - #GalkaWHM4Life #MeleeWHM - some of the best moments of my XI career came from clubbing through everything in sight.
Because the way you post implies to me that you never experienced or appreciated the game at its peak. Which tells me you're either of a younger generation (which is fine), or you fall into that odd category of people. Similar to the people who think current WoW (unrelated game) is better than vanilla-tbc. Which, honestly speaking, is just a really weird flex to me. I never said the community is dead, I said it's not the same and it never will be.
But, different strokes for different folks I guess (:
Keep telling yourself that, You dont know my age, therefore you dont know my generation therefore you dont know my opinion on the game peaks . Cleared Divine Might battlefield on ranger at Lv70 after 7 pickup groups failures with kiting strategies(7 pentaspheres) by making my own alliance consisting of 16 black mages (including japanese players) time nuking half blizzaga/half thundaga to prevent resists,|BIG BOOM|battlefield cleartime record back when sky was the top end game. Not going to explain to you more of my gameplays but you speak like if I was not there while I was.
Ps: If you want old experience then make friends, reinvite old friends, level sync, do not use trusts, so on so on. Game is still there, and the way it works its mechanics also.

And here we see the age old interaction of FFXI players, arguing about when the game was at its best and when it died.
Hmmm I am not(Game is still alive and theres no when it was best,ITS STILL THE BEST), I'm just mentionning something that would hppen back then that you might not see again, but current game is still just as good. You can still build an alliance if you want even tho trusts are a thing.
Ps: And btw, I am not in favor of trusts in xiv but to each his own.

Oh there's definitely good points about modern XI, and I honestly wouldn't want to go back to much of the archaic game design from its original era. That ship has long sailed into the sunset where it belongs.
Just like XI in its heyday had some of the most immersive and (to us) meaningful achievements and goals in gaming. It's like let's just stop telling people their personal experience in this multifacted game was WRONG ya know? Also hell yeah to clearing divine might with rng, cleared apocalypse nigh as the last man standing as rng (desperate final slug shot lol)
