Thats a bit harsh... I mean you did not "loose" an item, you made the choice of not starting over to get said item. This is a bit different. But yes there are two different GMs, the tier 1 and 2, you will rarely see a tier 2, but they have a lot more power then a tier 1. The problem here is, that FFXIV is so messed up right now, that honestly there is no point in even worrying about lost items, as when 2.0 hits, "everything will be different". Sucks that you lost the item, but to be honest, in the long run, the item is meaningless.

Great you can go ahead and live with it, I'd rather not and get back stuff that I should have since every other mmo on the planet that isnt developed by SE allows you to and understands: You're human, you make mistakes, and we're here for you.

You dont get any support from SE, that is the issue, it might just be a lost item here that is representing the issue that GM's are worthless but its just a situation to represent the cause that needs to be addressed.

We need better customer service and in-game support!

Well if you're OK with poor customer service that's fine. But many others, myself included, expect more from a AAA P2P MMO.

Right now there is absolutely nothing a GM will do for you.

Lost an item? "Sorry, we can't help you."
Got stuck somewhere in the map? "Please use the return feature."
Being harassed by another player? "Please use the blacklist feature."

Until recently, all 3 of those were listed in the GM interactions menu. The ONLY one that a player couldn't resolve themselves would have been item restoration, but that's no longer available. The latter two are still listed as something that a GM can help you with, but in reality they won't do anything about it themselves. You'll just get a response like the ones I just listed.

If they're going to take ideas from other MMOs, like Yoshi has stated, customer service should be a priority as well.

The point is, we like useless items because they are / will be rare. That's why we don't want to lose it. Not because of being good, but because after 5 years, you look back and there they are. Anyway, point made, they won't give back none, mosty because they gotta be fair to everyone and who knows how many are in the same situation... Maybe if they want to be nice in the future, which I doubt, they can look into that.

I'm sure that when it goes p2p they will offer a better service. That's the whole reason for it anyway.

It would be nice if you could get back special items like this if you had earned them previously. I dropped some items and I regret doing so now but I made that choice and I have to live with it. In the case of an accident I do think a GM should replace, its not like you are farming the things and NPCing them for 1 gill each on purpose...

FFXIV is definitely not a AAA mmo. Not by the longest stretch of the strangest imagination...

That depends on how you define a AAA MMO.

It doesn't necessarily have to mean a successful MMO. It's more often used to describe MMOs created by large companies and/or an MMO with large production costs. FFXIV falls under both categories.

3 things: Better customer service, buy back system, rare/event items have no gil sale price and therefore cannot be sold to NPCs.
