I hope this gesture helps, meowy.Contacted GM, got automated message saying there's nothing they can do.
Spoke to someone on live chat, they told me to ask to speak to a GM directly and inquire about an item restoration.
Sent another GM call, and got the same exact automated reply again, even after asking to speak to someone directly.
Replied to the latest GM reply, and currently waiting to hear from them again.
WTF is it that GMs do in this game??? Am I totally stuck now? I'm so mad. At first it was just at myself for making a careless mistake, but now I'm also pissed at this poor excuse for customer service. Isn't this part of the reason payments are starting in January?
Any rep can help me out with this? I'd like a real response regarding my issue, not some copy & pasted generic response (which is always the same, no matter what you call a GM for).

lol, thanks Issac, but unfortunately there's nothing a GM can do for me.
After getting the same response from the GMs so many times I did what they told me to do, which was go to the support center and view the GM interactions section.
This is what it said:
After I viewed it I made another GM call telling them that it clearly states that a GM can help with item restoration. This time they replied with this:What issues will the Game Masters be handling?
In FINAL FANTASY XIV, we have a group of support staff called Game Masters, or GMs, that handle various issues that occur within the game. The GMs are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
GMs will appear as player characters in the game and will assist customers on various issues such as when customers are stuck in game geometry, or when they are being harassed by another player. GMs may also handle other issues such as trade disputes and item restoration requests.
In order to report an issue within the game, you will need to submit a GM call. This can be done through Support Desk in the main menu. You can open the main menu by pressing the "-" key.
And now the GM interactions section in the support center says:
Glad I could help lol - -What issues will the Game Masters be handling?

Looks like working as GM for SE is a nice job
When you're stuck you just return and come on... you get insulted all the time in this game but almost nobody cares! So all the GMs have to do is copy&paste answers(24 hours a day, 365 days a year) xD

That blows, hopefully they can manage to get your crown back but knowing SE....

This thread makes me appreciate other companies like NCSoft/Blizzard, etc. I bold NCSoft because they're epic, got my Aion account back in less than an hr and even items returned that i stated was missing!
I'd like to think its not so much the GM's themselves, because well, did SE ask for the most retarded and useless people as the qualifications for GM job? I doubt it, so it is likely typical SE holding them back, providing them with no tools to do anything and a policy that doesn't let them breathe.
Never going to change though haha.

Yep, SE has terrible GM service. Seriously.
One time in Aion someone accidentally rolled and won an item they were supposed to pass to me (they couldn't wear it either). We sent in a ticket and the shield was in my inventory in less than 8 minutes. Did not need to speak with a GM or anything either. They sent an automated message to me that flashed on my screen and had a little good hunting message in it too. I put the shield on and we just kept raiding. SE needs to get with the times and actually help their players with problems like this. Implementing a buyback would be nice too, as was already suggested.
It's little stuff like this incident that puts a bad taste in people's mouths. Word of these sorts of thngs DO get out, and it ruins company rep. It's bad for PR and bad for the game. If you had just given this kid his crown back initially and you wouldn't be fielding 20 god damn follow-up GM calls about it.

we shoudl all bump this daily, just casue this is a real issue. if anyone else does the same they'd want it back to, that or one day we get lots of ppl to call a gm about missing this at same time, i reammber back in ff11. they hated that ( HNM camps calls lol )

I thought it was bad in XI and now with automatic message, at least in XI you got someone to talk to. You cant get help with anything, the GM's seem so useless...
Like even now, I'm trying to get my XI account sorted and its been over a week but fair enough Xmas and all but the guy constantly keeps forgetting that I've not done the "Transfer" thing, and he keeps going "and if you haven't transferred do this" ........ swear to god they just read 2-3 words and its already CTRL+C, CTRL+V mode.
I hate this generic bullshit, at least with NCSoft the generic one is "While you wait for your human response, here are some topics which might help", by then 10 minutes later the human messages you who actually read your issue and solves it. Its epicsauce.

I would feel absolutely sick. My condolences.
They definitely should have a buyback feature for issues like this. It would make life easier for both support and the players.
Also, irreplaceable items like this should be made to be non-vendorable (if that's a word, LOL). If you try to sell it, the game says, "The vendor doesn't want that item". Or the NPC says, "My, my, I'm sorry, I just can't take such a valuable item off your hands." Keeps mistakes like this from happening. And if you truly don't want it (for whatever crazy reason), you're forced to drop it. That way there's no mistake.
