I've never kicked someone because they played bad. You have to really play abysmal, like on purpose bad and the party has to wipe a lot for me to get annoyed. And for normal casual content the ideal rotation isn't needed so I'm with OP on that. Didn't sound justified. Some people have to learn to relax and live with not optimal playstils. If you can't deal with it, only play with your static. It's not like you can't give others tipps, I think you should but at the end of the day people just want to have fun and not getting berated and kicked for not playing the optimal way.

With the way some people in this topic is acting to one another, I would just kick because your attitudes are just terrible.
OP is even talking about a normal regular ol' dungeon at that where it's so easy
you don't really need top tier performance play...You guys need a break or something...
    I mean Jimney Christmas lol.

Looking on the Lodestone, OP is wearing 6 pieces of gear from the Aery and using the title Nidhogg Slayer ... so I guess there was a happy ending?
OP, if you read this - I expect the tank was correct that you were doing less damage than you could be.
If you were doing 80% of your possible damage, he was very much in the wrong to kick you. Below max level, any reasonable performance should be fine, and the most you should get if playing 'wrong' is some advice.
If you were doing 20% of your possible damage, he was very much in the right - it likely even would have been necessary to kick you to pass Nidhogg's dps check, if the other 3 players weren't skilled enough to cover for you.
It's also possible the tank (or you) was just being a jerk, and performance had nothing to do with the kick.

We are only getting half the story, maybe less than that. I'd be willing to bet we're getting less than half. But we can't really do much but speculate as to the events leading to their kick without all the facts. Most of the time when a vote to kick is initiated, it took a lot to get to that point. Not always, but most of the time.

I get it. DF is supposed to be a crap shoot. But that doesn't mean we have to just accept every ice mage we see. If you want to carry them, by all means. Go right ahead. No one else is obligated though.
Simply put, you are using a random party formation feature in a game which matchs players of varying skill levels. This is a known going into content using duty finder. If a person expects and requires a certain level of play, make a pre-made.
Also, you would not know a dps player has output lower than a healer or tank without a dps meter..... which is against the ToS and simply given a blind eye.

And if the party decided they don't want that random that doesn't pull their own weight, it is beautifully justified to kick the underperformer to the curb.

It'll be even better in shadowbringers where this underperformer can be exiled to trust runs, sandboxed away from the parties that would kick them.

A dps meter is not needed to know that someone is underperforming, though they'd have to be really, really underperforming to truly notice.

AOEing large trash packs should be a standard even for randomly matched parties. But getting DPS to AOE is worse than pulling teeth it seems.

That said, if a healer is spamming Holy/Gravity/Miasma II while a DPS is single-targeting, you don't need a damage meter to know that the healer is pulling the weight here. It's simple math at that point.
