Kicked from dungeon for not following the way others want you to play

I was just having fun in the campaign quest that takes me to the dungeon "The Aery" (It was the campaign quest that unlocks the mount). There I started playing the same way I always did, always trying to do a good damage with my skill's ... Until the tank started telling me how I should play as a summoner, I should not use the skill's combination because it was for him it was a mp perch. I understand that these people coming from the high level have a certain problem with beginners. But until then I played 60 levels and that was the way I found playing and I like to use Garuda and not Ifrit. I do not care about extreme content, I just wish I had continued in the dungeon and not get kicked because I have to play the way somebody else wants. I resuscitated the healer twice and the tank still continued to talk about my way of attacking...Until he and his "party" buddy got me out of the dungeon.

Unfortunately this is one side of the story. We can't tell if maybe you were doing terribly. Not just from a high end perspective but even from a casual perspective, it could have been the case. It would only be natural then for the party to want to replace you. Reviving the healer could also mean the group barely being able to defeat groups in time because of low damage.

Report them with the chat log. SE will take care of them.

"Difference in playstyle" - valid reason for kick. You can try reporting but it's not likely to go anywhere. That being said, this is a thankfully rare occurrence, so try not to let this one group get you down (though I know it's easier said than done). Most groups won't go to the trouble of kicking.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

I'm having a hard time believing they kicked you because you were using garuda instead of ifrit.

There's a lot of variables here.

Your best try at good damage may ultimately be considered trash level damage. In which case if things don't die too fast, then other people will die, which means you have to revive if possible, which again, the fault comes back to you.

Perhaps you were just doing bad enough to warrant the team to replace you.

From past experiences, new summoner players that use garuda, more often than not they tend to do very very poorly. And their best is not even good enough to pass as acceptable in casual content. Without knowing both sides of the story, no one can really say exactly what happened and why you were kicked. You were most likely kicked from having extremely poor performance.

If they were being jerks for the sake of being jerks then they can be reported. However, if you were holding back the group's progress intentionally by not heeding the advice of others and saying "I'll play however I want!" while performing sub par even for a new player then...well, you were being detrimental to their gameplay and the kick was justified. Like someone said already though, we are hearing only one side of the story.

When I was first leveling up back in ARR, I was a terrible DRG. I really was. I was so bad that people would wait for me to leave various dungeons or trials and I couldn't quite understand why. At max level I decided to look some things up to see how I could improve, and good lord I was doing everything wrong. Point is, if you are having trouble OP there is nothing wrong with seeking the aid of a fellow SMN or looking up a guide for your job.

If someone is offering you advice on how to play you should maybe consider listening to them. There’s a right & efficient way to play a job and many bad & inefficient ways to play. I really have doubts they kicked you just for using Garuda. It was probably more like, you weren’t using dots/bane and spamming ruin 2 while saying nothing to their trying to give advice.

Unless you can provide screenshots of the conversation? There’s really not much more to say.

As many stated, we only see your side of the story, so we can't judge if they were in the wrong.

Ifrit is a better option than Garuda, yes. Were you using your DoTs ? Did you use Bane ? Did you use Shadow Flare at the end of the pulls ?
    We don't know.

Were they mean to you ? Did they insult you ? Did you just blatantly ignore them when they gave you advices ?

I understand that you have your habits, and enjoy the way you play, it's fine. But if someone is giving you advice so you can be better, I'd say you should try it out.

I feel like there's a difference in "playing your way" and just playing poorly. I would be considered a casual I guess because I play the game for the story and enjoyment. I'm not a big extreme content player, though I do dabble in end game. However, regardless of how I feel about that, I still need to pull my weight. As someone who mains MCH, I know people are constantly observing how I am doing due to the reputation MCH has. I make sure I am maximizing my damage to the best of my ability and pulling my weight. Regardless of playstyle preferences, I want to make sure the run is as smooth as possible and I am not actually hurting my party.

It's sometimes good to take advice. I've had party members simply ask me to do X instead of Y or to please LB at a certain time or offer tips. I always take them graciously and modify what I am doing if it betters me and the smoothness of the run.

I can't tell if they were being A-holes or you simply were in your own world doing your thing. Which if that's the case..dance to your own drum girl, but don't expect people to want to spend their time carrying you through a run because you are stuck in your playstyle.
