Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

Just as a positive thought:

Last night I actually got around to downloading the benchmark and was pleasently surprised that Viera and Hrothgar were two separate listings. Now this is most likely me reading to much into it, but I take that as a good sign. If they had 0 intention of including the off sexes, they couldve rolled both into one listing and called it something like "Beastkin", where if you pick male, its Hrothgars, and female would show Vieras. That setup would be done more for cleaner and more streamlined menu layout. The current set up atleast allows them to implement the off sexes without having to change anything in the character editor.

So yeah.

It doesn't confirm anything but it makes me possitive that they have some sort of plan to make them, since dataminers have pointed out that the dev team apparently went through an extra effort to intentionally make room for the other genders on some parts of the code, so they might very well have decided that they'll work on them for 6.0. I like to point out though that this is in no way any sort of confirmation

The most likely thing theyre doing is covering bases. Even if they dont add the new races ever, its better to create the opening now then have to go back down the line and make heavier changes. Still, one can be optimistic.

I'm not a dataminers myself but I will do my best to see if I can make a screenshot. One of my friends is and they told me that so I believe them. Also it seems many other ppl in media are saying it. If I can get myself some screenshots I'll try to post them

The easiest evidence was in the French leak for "le/la Viera" and "le/la Hrothgar" which still proves little as the game may simply check gender before race. That said, be careful when posting screenshots or such as I'm not sure how SE would see that according to the ToS.

But for the info, the first season of krakka is yours brother Viera.

This, of course, was with the whole issue where Hrothgar was 'leaked' due to the mess up in the French version codes that showed Hrothgar. If I remember correctly that being a male had both Viera and Hrothgar dialogue flagging - and the same went for female. I wouldn't put too much weight in this however as that would be some sort of tin hat deal where Square would have been planning this right from the start.

I think that while this might sound like a conspiracy theory and everything, there is a chance that like I have previously stated this is simply a marketing trick based on creating expectations (teasing male viera on interviews etc), not fulfilling them, causing drama and controversy, getting tons of press (even if it's bad or controversial), fixing what you had done, and thus appearing as someone who catters a lot to the community and gaining even more good press. Throw in the mixture the fact that what you are doing is difficult, and you have the formula to a classic good old marketing trick. Please note that this is unlikely, and this is simply stating a possibility while the more likely reason is that SE simply chose something to please as many as possible which has upset as many as possible instead sadly, and this is by no means some sort of conspiracy

To be fair, I don't think that info came from datamining, but instead came from a localization bug where it showed all race reaction responses for a text string.
