I apologize for calling Minafumi "he/him". She is actually a woman with a guy's pen name. (Please don't get mad at me Fumio-san)
It's said that Minafumi also used to do coloration for Tetsuya Nomura's illustrations back in the day.

I just commented because a lot of arguments amounted to complete dismissal of established canon since this is a separate game and already takes liberties with the games it cameos, a point I agree with. But now people are arguing that because the original concept developer has thoughts about it that it's evidence that it'll be a certain way...matsuno has stated from the very beginning on very clear that he had nothing to do with the exclusion of male vieras. nobody dismissed him ever. people started citing his posts about his headcanon vision of male vieras. which is naturally a very interesting thing to male viera supporters. it just gives material for discussion, nothing more or less.
Sounds kinda, unlikely.
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
there is actual screenshots, I can provide them myself, and what canon? In 12 male viera are as numerous as females, but they live in the opposite side of what we see. They were even gonna appear but matsuno had to leave before then and this they were cutI just commented because a lot of arguments amounted to complete dismissal of established canon since this is a separate game and already takes liberties with the games it cameos, a point I agree with. Calm down a bit, I think I get where Krotoan is coming from. It's dangerous to latch onto Matsuno's latest tweets as any "evidence" of mViera physique since this game is not being developed by Yazz's team but by Yoshi-P's. RtI was a scenario that Matsuno wrote and was made to fit XIV canon while not being Ivalice canon, so it exists in a sort of limbo of it taking a buttload of references to Ivalice Alliance while not being part of it. That was the main issue over the "mViera not existing" non-argument, that since they never showed up in Ivalice canon they couldn't appear now (which was already debated and debunked).
So the point is Yoshi could very well have a separate and completely different idea of mViera and Matsuno's tweets shouldn't be evidence of either them being playable in XIV or what appearance they'll have (they're supportive, yes, but unless both Yoshi and Yazz team up to strong-arm SE into giving them the resources to do it, it's just supportive).

I never said he didn't say anything about it. Just that it's exactly the opposite of the stance people had back when he was being cited for being the reason for the limitation. Even if he wasn't actually a roadblock it's interesting that now that he is supporting what people want he's now a solid source of information.

I get your point but ppl was simply speculating, while now what we have are facts, plus he didn't say anything for a long time so there wasn't really a point on bringing him up into this discussionI never said he didn't say anything about it. This is what gets me as well, every race has its male or female counterpart to admire, be fond of, lore-talk, respect; it makes the race feel part of the world. With only one gender they feel like guests, like they're not really part of the world like the other races. And we know they're doing this because of (bad) decision-making, not because of lore.

I wasn't the one who did. Just noticing he is being brought back into it. Don't let me derail everything with side observations though. Please continue =]

I think this was back in the early stages where folks thought that Matsuno was the one who roadblocked Male Viera. Some folks got very heated about it. My personal gripe was with Yoshida, not Matsuno. It was very reassuring to hear that it wasn't the original creator holding it back, however. If Matsuno straight up said that males wouldn't show themselves at all and was very much against their inclusion then I would accept that. I wouldn't like it, but in the end, it's Matsuno's creation.I never said he didn't say anything about it. Of course, it could be argued that; 'Hey, you stated you were against the lore in regards to male Viera.' That's true, I was against Lore being a reason for there exclusion. I can respect a persons choice to not want them included if they're the creator. I can, however, state that the lore excuse is BS due to how things were handled in the past while still not push further on the matter.
So, it's more like.
'that's a lame lore excuse, but I respect your desire to exclude them.

Just as a positive thought:
Last night I actually got around to downloading the benchmark and was pleasently surprised that Viera and Hrothgar were two separate listings. Now this is most likely me reading to much into it, but I take that as a good sign. If they had 0 intention of including the off sexes, they couldve rolled both into one listing and called it something like "Beastkin", where if you pick male, its Hrothgars, and female would show Vieras. That setup would be done more for cleaner and more streamlined menu layout. The current set up atleast allows them to implement the off sexes without having to change anything in the character editor.
So yeah.
