Some might joke about it and others might not like it. You should know that you should error on the side that someone might take offence and just not use derogatory terms around people you don't personally know.
Other conversations aren't your business. If you get offended, then leave. In the majority of cases people aren't trying to offend anyone, if you get offended anyway, you have the option to leave. And yet, seems a lot of FF14 players choose to remain, report and make angry forum rants about how people are so rude my god the humanity is ending because people I'm upset at something someone said! The apocalypse is coming!

Thank you for confirming the best option is to hide the chat when playing FF14 and using other communication platforms to communicate. It's quite sad how the feelings of the few end up causing the many to cut off communication entirely.

At the same time, also thank you for confirming that you believe having a community where the many refuse to communicate with the tools provided by the game because some random might get offended. That's a healthy community.
