Eh, I am by no meaning saying you are a 'moron', refrain from 'moronic' comments then potentially you won't get reported. I enjoy talking, think about what I say most of the time, the times I do not usually comes down to playing the game while drinking a number of pints while playing and having comments when I next log in like "you ok today Soul" quite funny a lot of the time I don't remember if I maybe had said something 'moronic' or not lol.

I mean if you got upset over that meme posted in the guild chat, then you're someone I would need to tip toe around. I'm by no means rude or intentionally mean towards any group of people, but coming from a different gaming background, I'm not quite as delicate as it seems a majority of FFXIV players are. I'd rather just mind my own business and play the game in silence as opposed to wondering who the next person to get teary eyed will be.

Im not really sure what the point of this post is other than to vent your frustration, which is a fine thing to do, we all need to vent from time to time. but if you're looking for actions to take to better your situation, i think you did all you can do by trying to move and find like minded people.

I'll admit to being at fault there. I read your reply the wrong way. However, I still think the a tough skin is the only way to survive on the internet. I didn't come to that conclusion because I have no feelings. I came to that conclusion because I feel things a little too much.

When I was a little kid, I couldn't handle this sort of thing on the internet. I would almost get like a form of depression because I wondered what "humanity was coming to." Then I stopped, and I now I realize that I would never want to go back to those days.

Learn to recognize when people is joking and when they're being serious. You can't be that b**thurt over stuff like this.

The thing is unless you know somebody it's difficult to know if they are joking or not and that's when some people take offense with certain words. Of course it's true everyone should have a little thicker skin but at the same time a random has no idea how someone will react to something they say so perhaps a little restraint from both parties is best you know. Consider what you say to others but also consider how you respond to it.

I know making this post will not stop the few of the FFXIV community using comments like this, however, this platform gives me a platform to voice my displeasure.

As I was gathering hides to work with things concerning collectables there was a conversation concerning a bad run in something I assume was pretty much a newbie dungeon when someone piped up "you should give them the cancerous DPS chat spam" to which I took no notice of, you know fashion and all that, I get it!
Someone then stated "incoming chat spam", obviously everybody waits with bated breath over what this chat spam looks like. It was a picture made of many punctuation marks etc etc I think a lot of people know the kinda thing I mean of a pig in a bed surrounded by other pigs to which I have no idea of the context it is lost on me with the statement "YOUR DPS JUST GAVE ME CANCER".

This kind of comment I feel is absolutely a lack of understanding, ignorant and quite moronic in my opinion, that quite frankly wasn't the only problem. A few other people I can only claim to be 'morons' were piping up with, "lol" "I have to have that!" "That is awesome!" etc etc I think you get the jist oh actually I think there was one "wtf" but that didn't come from me.

I was doing what I was doing for approx 20 mins just stewing over the issue, this is not fun for me, I wanted to say how I felt but also didn't due to not wanting to make it look like an issue I have personally dealt with but more how someone else might feel concerning that comment but feeling like I'd have a lack of support I couldn't bring myself to say anything.

So I proceeded to put myself to 'busy' and left the mentioned Free Company I was in, I did hang around Goblin for a little while but kept seeing people with the Free Company tag of the Free Company I was in, fearing a potential form of harassment I decided to look into moving to the only data centre I hadn't been on concerning the NA data centres as there are now three, I was quite frankly surprised that I could move again in a short period of time and was actually expecting I wouldn't be able to.

I don't tend to surround myself with people who use such language, so I don't see it much.

While it may understandably be offensive to some people, the term cancer has evolved and does not necessarily refer to the disease anymore, but rather a growing negative aspect to a whole. Definitions evolve over time and this is an example of that.

Derogatory comments about autism probably cause people offense, but I think it's far less common to see them. It's unlikely anybody who uses it in a derogatory fashion has the slightest understanding of the condition, so they really just reveal their own ignorance more than anything.

Your options are to report it, blacklist them, disassociate yourself from them such as by leaving their FC or ignore it.
