Or perhaps they decided to continue with the chess piece route and this has nothing to do with sexuality/political views? How do people make this leap? Do people not understand the chess piece theme that MCH has?

Come to think of it, did people complain about the "bishop turret" when it was introduced? Or is it just easier to spot the theme when it's immediately paired with the rook?


Also, given the chess theme, you definitely want a queen (most powerful piece on the board) over a king (short range; causes a wipe if defeated)...

Well, it is a point of the MCH storyline that Ishgard already has plenty of knights...

Actually that could possibly explain the choice of the chess theme in the first place.
