I personally don't mind gender locked outfits, so long as they exist in equal measure. You can't introduce 3 unique sets for females and only 1 for males. These things need to mimic real life in a way. A good example is the swimwear. I know technically they are the same item and just look different, but that's the issue their appearance, whether the game counts them as 1 item or 2 doesn't matter. But the swimwear mimics what most people know and understand in real life. It's not like females are getting a school swimsuit and males an entire scuba set, lol. Things need to be given in equal measure, that way we don't feel like things are gender locked.
All that aside, no gender locking as a whole should not exist.
Another one of these threads, eh?
I'm fine with gear being gender locked.
Mainly because they would have to edit and redesign all the female outfits to be able to fit male bodies and visa versa (which in many cases are wildly different).
Gender isn't the same as sex, though. And the animal kingdom doesn't even share the same values as human society does: Male peacocks are the ones with the long tailfeathers, male birds in general have more colorful plumage than females, some species of fish change sexes when the opposite one is unavailable, male seahorses carry the children and "birth" them, female lions take care of most things within the pride (not to mention the ones with the luxurious manes are the males)...
In humanity: 100 years ago, children of both sexes used to wear dresses until around the age of 10. Pink was a masculine color until 60-70 years ago. Men wore more make up than women less than 200 years ago (and wigs, let's not forget that). The high heel was invented for men (it was meant to secure the foot while horse riding). Long hair has switched between standard, fashionable, and distasteful on men over millennia. And for that matter, women didn't shave their body hair until razor companies shamed them into doing so around the 1940s, and MEN actually did in Ancient Greece and Rome (because it was considered unsightly, both men and women also removed it in Ancient Egypt, it was considered unclean).
So, a lot of the things we consider "male" and "female" are actually recent BS.

The fact that many people dont see the potential profitability in this is just mind blowing. Never mind the fact that just having unisex universal to all clothes and armor would be a substantial breath of fresh air in general from a business perspective you would bring in so many new players and therefore bring in the money.
And putting all of that aside, people should never be against more options and flexibility. Yes it will take time and resources but you know what, I'd rather they work on this than making another pointless "limited class"
Sure. Whatever makes you happy.
If men buy female clothes instead, then they aren't buying male clothes. There's no profitability.
It's also a modern thing for people to get married past age 18, have kids in their 30s and 40s, accept other people for their differences.
Just a short time ago, people were married at 13-14, had kids by 16, and kings and queens married their siblings. Bringing "the times" into it is silly.
Actually, what I find more recent and BS is that "gender" is used for whatever the hell people want it to mean. Since there is no getting around the biological science that denotes there are only TWO sexes, gender is used to describe any and all that pseudo exist on the grey.
A lot of the things we consider male and female is not BS. Perhaps it is to extreme left SJWs trying to destroy the boundaries between the two until we are a completely androgynous society who won't be able to defend ourselves when all those safe spaces are invaded. What we know as male and female has been established for centuries. Gender roles were taught and enforced, and done so for a very good reason: It taught boys how to be men, and girls how to be women. As human beings, males and females are equal, but from a biological, mental, and anatomical standpoint, we are different and different in a way where men and women compliment each other.
In relation to the game, I'm not going to go into a resource limitation or anything like that because in all honesty, it doesn't matter. Certain things remain race and gender locked because they are clearly designed for the intended race or gender, and it really just ends there. I really wish the bunny outfit was never released for males despite the constant crying and complaining. It couldn't be more clear the devs didn't want to do it, and now they gave an inch to players who take miles.
