You're taking this thread too personally.I am a newish player. By that I mean I have stumbled to 55 (But have not finished all the MSQ for 50 yet). I also read the first 40 or so pages of this thread. You folks make me really terrified of dungeons. Up till now I thought if I was doing something wrong in them someone would say something so I could correct my mistakes. So many posters of dungeon horror stories here never mention telling people what they are doing wrong or complain because their level does not match their gear and knowledge(which has been a constant problem for me with the leveling bonuses). Some of us do make it to 50+ without anyone telling us anything; not a mentor(never had one to talk to), not a FC member, and not a dungeon mate. Yet we are expected to perform perfectly. Now I wonder what horror stories people from the dungeons I have done so far are thinking about me. I even saw someone complaining because someone was doing the mechanics as a popular video showed them instead of how they are currently run. I personally would just be thankful the new person took the time to try and learn the fight before going in yet here is someone not correcting the newbie just complaining. I played another MMO before this one for nearly 14 years so I am not completely ignorant on what I need to do. I guess I can only hope it is good enough because many of you are scary.
You're going to make mistakes, just like everyone else has & will.
This is a vent thread so people don't get upset, can discuss & let out some steam.

The stories you are reading here are mostly unique circomstances.
If you make simple mistakes, people usually will tell you, it happens, no big deal. The important thing is to listen and improve, that is all.
Don't worry, dungeons usually go smooth and easy. No need to be frightened.![]()
You just reminded me of one of the cringiest normal raid trials I was ever in. SMN had two different macros: one for dreadwrym trance and one for actual bahamut. I got to read like 12 instances of this thing over the course of the fight and the full bahamut one at least 4-5 times. Was just internally screaming at it.

Oh god, the cringe. You just reminded me of one of the cringiest normal raid trials I was ever in. SMN had two different macros: one for dreadwrym trance and one for actual bahamut. And it's senpai, not sempai I'm just sayin' :c
It's like those LB macros with a huge wall of text, anime-style. It's OK to like that sort of thing but... I don't really like whenever someone pops those in lol
One of my mates has that. Mine's a bit less... wall of text like. But still cringey.

White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
To be honest I think it's kinda cool, and at least not as invasive as a huge (I mean 5+ lines of macros) anime-style macro for LB. I'm not going to complain or whatnot if someone does it, but it makes me cringe a little bit whenever it happens lol
But more like a "laugh it off and cringe a little bit" than "ew wtf this guy's an idiot cringe". c:
PLD shouldn't have to press flash.
If you're ever healing for me I'll be sure to remember that.
I don't see this beyond the early story dungeons which wasn't what the post about the start of this thread was about. I've ripped hate off of plenty of ambitious tanks with Holy spam and I've always just stayed put unless I'm dodging an AoE.I'm sure it doesn't apply to the situation you referring to, but I'd like add a note about flash sharing the GCD:
if aggro starts the same time GCD has started, you have to wait quite a bit before being able to use flash, and in the while the mobs may pass thru and you can only farewell emote them.
I expect whoever got aggro to go to me for a flash, BUT the common behavior of healer and dps is running everywhere but the place the tank is. In some cases, I see running as far away as possible from the tank is one of the preferred solutions chosen by them.
I think basing everything on the premise that people may react to a situation where they have enmity by running away from the only person who is going to regain enmity off of them is kind of a flawed premise. Will your occasional bad person still do this at 70? I'm sure they're out there but for most people you stay parked near the tank and let him do his job.
Also as an update I prepull regened 2 experts, nothing happened. One was even being tanked by a WAR. 2 comms in one and 3 in the other. This seems like something that forum people care about that doesn't really bother the general population... as are many things that are discussed here tbh.

As already explained to you in the thread you made about this, you cannot force players to go at a snails pace during Cape Westwind, Castrum Meridianum, or Praetorium. You also cannot force players to just not attack the bosses so that you can see all of their different phases. This game has the same selfish community as other MMOs. Do you want to go quiet dungeon? The crowd dressed will not let you see the dungeon. I rocked 2 months reading quests epic, consistently killed bosses. And at level 50, the crowd begins to bring the final bosses as matches. Fortunately, I thought of leaving the dungeon. But the gaming experience is spoiled completely. A crowd of players rushing headlong spitting on the plot. Even in W ** I did not observe this. There will have to kill everything, whether you want to or not.
But youtube guys like to say "non-toxic community is all friendly." On my petition to be slower, I'm here for the first time, got ignored. Why make such dungeons where you do not have time to understand anything because of the sweaty guys the question is not closed.
No one gets angry with new players making mistakes if the player lets everyone know, "Hey, I'm new and I've never done this before". Don't be so paranoid about it. You will make mistakes; we have all made them, and some people still make them today despite knowing better because they just space out on something every once in a while.I am a newish player. By that I mean I have stumbled to 55 (But have not finished all the MSQ for 50 yet). I also read the first 40 or so pages of this thread. You folks make me really terrified of dungeons. As for the helping, I used to tell new players if they were doing something wrong. However, I met one too many that just didn't care to listen to advice and/or improve, or who simply told me to shut up and let them play they way they want. So I stopped helping unless someone asks for it. For job specific advice, some players can only give advice on jobs that hey actively play. For example, I have no idea how to play Summoner, so if you were to ask me advice for it, I'd be unable to help you. My SMN is level 70 only because I play SCH.
For mechanics, in any content that is old, you generally skip things now due to overgearing and the way this game syncs players for lower level content. I appreciate people taking the time to prepare, but they also need to be receptive to the changes the content has undergone since it was relevant. A lot of dungeons and lower alliance raids have mechanics that players no longer worry about (as well as being nerfed since they were relevant with the coming of new expansions). I'm not saying that this is good design; I'm just saying this is how the community had silently decided things should be done. One has to adjust to those. It never hurts to know how things were supposed to be done back in the day, but you can't always expect them to still be done that way.
Thiugh I have noticed a surprising amount of people that now kill the bees in the first boss of Sohm Al (level 53 dungeon). In all my time during HW running that dungeon, people generally ignored them. Now every time I get it, people don't want to ignore them. I wonder what changed there...

This based off 2 runs? Try 100 runs and make sure you never miss a regen pre-pull. Might get you a bigger sample.

Healing DRK is literally... the same since ShB. The reason why people think it's a meme to heal nowadays because DRK receives very little to no buff to their sustainability vs 3 other tanks getting something useful. If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.
