Hopefully, with the recent letter from the producer, BLU fixes can get some light.

What stings about the whole BLU thing is that I doubt we'll be seeing changes to it any time soon. From what I've heard, Yoshida and the rest of the dev team are in "well they haven't seen the full extent of BLU content so we're not changing anything yet" mode.

Constantly learning.

Its very doubtful. Like Hazama999 just pointed out, the devs are at a point where they're basically saying "oh, but we're not done with BLU, we have even more carnival content and more spells coming later," which I fully expect to be more one-and-done carnival matches and extremely situational spells that have use in no more than one or two puzzles. At this point, all I see them "fixing" is spell learning rates from trial enemies and dungeon enemies, and possibly giving the Masked Memeval glamour things gated behind it like a mount or something to entice people to repopulate it the same way they do with PvP.
They've haven't acknowledged much of anything about working on BLU beyond level cap, more spells and more carnival challenges.
if what you want is a regular duty class, you wont see that any time soon. If you want a better blue mage experience, better learn rates, interesting content, and reasons to utilize the class more, you might see that in 5.1

Sad but true.
+1 for memeval too.
If they add better learn rates how are you meant to gate people who want to do the content
Savage Completion Rate ~5%+ of active players. Community: "Ugh stop catering to savage"
Ultimate Completion Rate ~1% of active players. Community: "Ugh stop catering to the hardcore raiders"
Frontline/ Rival Wings/ Hidden Gorge Mount Aquisition ~0.05-1% of active players. Community: "Ugh PVP is so dead in this game, they should stop investing in it"
Blue Mage Morbol Mount Aquisition ~0.01% of active players. Community: "WoW bLuE mAgE iS sO fUn AnD aCtIvE i CaN't WaIt FoR mOrE lImItEd JoBs"

Ninja was never designed as a tank. Players exploited an ability and made it one. That's a bad example and you know it.Red Mage doesn't work exactly how it does regarding its party role in the other games, is it an unusable fan hated mess of a job, or was it generally well received?
Who gets to decide exactly how a job "should" be? We got non tanking Ninjas, non damaging, HP cutting Dark Knights, Red Mages who barely heal, a Time Mage that heals and uses cards, but there's no way to implement Blue Mage unless it works as an exact square-peg-in-round-hole version of FFXI's design?
they would have to make gear hunting less easy, or give a benefit for hunting monsters types, or some such thing. With benefits for not being carried. They said they have some other thing in mind for blues to do in 5.1
we ll see how it goes.

BLU is not going to be changed to suit your idea of what it should be. We have what we have and that's all we're getting. If you don't like it, that's fine, but just move on and play something else. No point trying to argue why it should be your way when they already explained, in detail why it is the way it is.
