You're looking at it with such a rose-colored glasses. There are a bunch of people that just bought the ticket because they find the outfit cool and did not even care about the livestream. Just because someone has the outfit doesn't mean they have a nice history behind it. You can, however, meet a new player that bought the outfit from mogstation and wears it all the time because FFX marked their life and they just love it a lot, etc. People that buy it from the mogstation can also have memories attached to it in some way. They can also care about that item in a special way - that's probably because they're wearing it, btw.

I mean if it is a rare item then yes I bet people probably have a nice story behind it. Like how much time they spent trying to beat UCoB to get the weapon, etc. But you're talking about an item that you just have to use your credit card to get it. It's not as special as you're painting.
