I don't disagree with this, but I do have to wonder how long it will take to make this happen, if they decide to do it. What I have a hard time believing is that they'll have the resources to get it done in time for 6.0.

Unless of course, that was the plan all along. Female Viera and Male Hrothgar for 5.0, Male Viera and female Hrothgar for 6.0... the problem is that we are just speculating based on a grain of information. Saying they lack resources could literally mean anything. Money, Manpower, time ext.

Right, but blindly believing they will be there in 6.0 isn't a great idea either because if they don't appear, people will have once again built up this expectation, on their own, that it was supposed to happen. Just like what happened this time. So I would set expectations low and if they happen to surprise us with the gender counterparts, then we have something to excite us.

4th healer says hello. Also, they've stated that making a new race(s) is expensive. Whether it takes them 1.5 years or not is irrelevant if they don't have the resources to make them. If SE doesn't give them the amount of money needed to make them, then it's very unrealistic to expect the opposite genders to be playable in 6.0 (or even 7.0, depending). You can expect NPC's of them, though, since the dev team (reminder, they're humans, not robots) won't have to check if the thousands of pieces of gear will work/fit them.

I very much doubt we'd ever see NPC's of them unless they were going to be a playable race first.

True enough, I have no expectations of 'when' really - only hope that they will come at some point. I also have confidence in the devs, that when they know there is something that the community doesn't like, they tend to do something about it and i don't think finding a solution to the blocks preventing them is too outside the realm of possibility. Either way, time will tell and ill still support the game in the meantime.

I don't doubt that we may one day get them. The devs have proven time and time again that they're listening! Even recently with adding headgear for Viera and Hrothgar at launch! They're really a great team and I'm grateful for everything they're trying to do for us. I have no doubt they'll get to it, but I don't expect it to be there for 6.0.

There was some speculation floating around after the MrHappy interview that, since the dev team expected a negative blowback after the gender-lock reveal, that they may have wanted to make both sets of players happy but may have gotten a big no from SE, or a "you get one last race". So they intended to weaponize player reaction and force SE to allocate them a bigger budget. The wording of "last races" allows them to bring the missing genders later down the line as a "we said last races, and we meant it, so thanks to player demand here's male Viera and female Hrothgar!"

That is, of course, purely speculation to be taken with a grain of salt.

As for the WHEN, that, of course, relies on manpower and time. I do think 6.0 isn't too far a stretch, but that's assuming they start in 5.1 like they (apparently) did for fViera and mHroth, although that still involved a lot of time on the planning and design stages (eg. Viera were not decided to be the counterpart to Hroth until later, probably a bit before or after Ridoranna Lighthouse). In any way, I'm cautiously optimistic but not really trying to get my hopes of. After all, there's nothing official yet.

I think it's less of a lack of reinvestment as it is a desire from a production standpoint, if I recall Yoshida said the only time they will update the graphical engine, or character creator was in conjunction with the jump from the ps4 to the ps5. So personally I'm not expecting any work on these system upgrades to even begin until the ps5 drops.

You forget that this very thing happened before in ff 11. People wanted male miqte. We never got one and one was eventually added as an npc.

Thats right probably because there's no profit gained unlike FF14 where we have fantasia in FF11 you just start another character.

It honestly dosent change the fact that it didn't happen. People were asking for that since launch of Ff11, so your statement is rather irrelevant. It never changed, it never went anywhere and all we got was a npc male miqote.
