Please i'd rather be able to engage with you people in open discussion who are opposed to adding these genders but i'm getting tired of the constant unwillingness on your part to even try to be civil >_>

Dont fall for Darren7364s bull, hes trying to start stuff in the other thread too.
He wants responses, dont give him any
I know it's a troll post. I'm not really responding to him, but I am trying to convey a message to other people who may read this. For people like me, the addition of male viera is not a political thing. I have no interest in identity politics. Not all of us are liberals. I don't agree with calling the devs sexist or homophobic, and not all of us think this is an LGBT issue.
Man ok I haven't posted in this thread in a while but I'd like to talk a little bit about how disheartening this whole thing is to watch, and I'm not talking about the dev team.
Since the leaks happened stating that there would be two races I had a feeling that genderlocks were going to happen again. SE has talked extensively about resource issues for years (so much so that the belief that FFXIV sub and mogstation money is being funneled into other SE projects and not into the game has been repeated in the community for years), and I couldn't believe at the time that they'd be able to handle four brand new player race models, however the source of the information was too accurate for me to doubt. But when anyone said anything to that effect they were reassured (or shouted down by a few) that the people who removed the gender locks in the first place would absolutely never do that again. "Wait until the final fan fest you'll see". I don't know why people had such confidence, especially after the Eureka and Blue Mage debacle, but it was the more popular sentiment until the genderlocks actually got announced.
Then it does get announced that these are one-gender races and every social media platform's FFXIV community explodes. It wasn't just the forum like people seem to spin it now. The twitch chat was going absolutely nuts, reddit was going nuts (and complaining about Hrothgar), the forums were going nuts, tumblr was going nuts, twitter was going nuts, etc. Now the dust has settled a bit, people have very little left to talk about other than restating their support for adding the other genders, but now all these people are coming in saying that it's unreasonable to expect the other genders? It was actually a good decision and the people who didn't like it are just a vocal whiny minority? Actually just stop talking about it altogether. It's annoying that people are asking for things that I'm not interested in! Most people got absolutely blind sided by the news but the exact same people who insisted that genderlocks would never happen again are saying it's unreasonable to want or to have expected male Viera or female Hrothgar.
It's frustrating as all hell to watch the narrative getting beaten and flipped around in such a short period of time. Also these dumb "libruls are ruining my video games" posts are embarrassing. You've made politics into such an Us vs Them team sport that anything you disagree with has to be politically based and "on the other side". Including people asking for player models in a video game!
I feel that this is an issue that's not serious enough for me personally to warrant the absolutely bizarre accusations and abuse people throw in this thread, but enough that I'd like to continue showing support so that SE knows there are still people who would like the other genders. I will continue to show my support in the future, but I think I've said my piece on how I feel about the conversations that are happening on this forum in general.
