Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

I suspect they'll get around to expanding the customisation for the existing playable races at some point. The demand is there and it is something that has been requested long before Viera were even confirmed to be on the table. I wouldn't be surprised if they're slowly laying the groundwork behind the scenes to allow it to happen and removing obstacles when they can. Their wording towards graphic and customisation upgrades has also shifted to be more positive in recent months.

Is it possible to make a female Viera that doesn't look like it's wearing a full face of makeup for an instagram shoot? They just don't look good to me--where is this forest Sephora they're apparently going to? I thought it was a fluke that most XIV Viera seemed to look like this, but looking at the pictures everyone's posting pumped up lashes and sixteen layers of eyeshadow seems to be the norm.

If they decide to come out with male viera I HOPE they're not coming out of the box looking like makeup youtubers as well. I mean, it's great to have that option on the table for those who want it, but ??????

Seriously where is this mysterious Macy's they're going to? How are they getting all this makeup. Is it part of their training??? In between maiming dummies are they practicing the perfect smokey-eye???

I'm seeing people purposefully trying to make Viera as masculine as they possibly can and they STILL look like they just came out of a free Mac demo.

I'm gonna go look for myself because if you really can't get away from the makeup then the people behind this stuff were

You can remove the eyeshadow, but the eyelashes are still maybe maybelline. (They've also got VERY shiny lip gloss, like they're wearing one of those... lip kits or whatever you call 'em.) They're also... very generic. Doe-eyed anime girls. (But tall!) No viera charm, only on the nose where it'd be the least offensive, I suppose? None of the interesting creasing around the eyes that I really liked on Fran or anything like that. Hopefully, if mViera come along, they'll let you have some of the coloration that Fran had. That tired/done look she had was everything, and I'd endure a kitten with extremely sharp nails clinging to my bare leg to have a guy rabbit with that feature.

Also you can create a pink or lime green cat, but not a bright orange one, which is probably a crime against humanity because I'm pretty sure someone has been sitting on Tony The'tiger waiting for their day to come. But it is not to be.

I don't know where you're getting the impression of 'generic,doe-eyed anime girls' from, but it depends entirely on which face options you piece together, like with any other race. Take a look in the 'Show Your Viera' thread; there's plenty of proper amazon buns in there.

Thirdly Just because they are big burly men and scantly clad woman doesn't instantly make them sexist the intent is what makes them. In no way shape or form is the intent for these races to be sexist. They are based on 2 races from previous games that made it easy for them to add to the game.

Thank God they didn't cave to that group of people where everything pretty is apparently sexist!

Wasn't able to play the benchmark myself because RIP PS4 user with potato laptop but I had some friends stream it for me. Given some of the options it looks like I can make a Viera that passes fairly well as a dude, but I noticed other people who are trying to do the same are using same/similar options as well (especially with one particular hairstyle) and as petty as this is going to sound I'm bummed that I can't make something more unique like I would had actual male Viera been available...

I'm very happy with the customization options for viera so far. Was hoping to see more hair options, but there might be more at launch. As for hrothgar, I'm kind of iffy. I've been saying SE made the best decision for adding female viera and male hrothgar for a while now. However, seeing that hairstyles might be locked to faces for the hrothgars, I can't help but feel it would have just been better to give us male viera. We probably haven't seen everything yet, though, so I won't judge it too hard. For the most part, I liked everything I saw, so thanks devs.

First off they stopped using lore reason and explained that both a beast like race and viera were requested and they wanted to cater to not just one set of the community. Secondly Yoshi-P also stated that if they were to make male viera they wanted to make sure it was right which would of taken them even longer to design and they would of not been out before the expansion. Thirdly Just because they are big burly men and scantly clad woman doesn't instantly make them sexist the intent is what makes them. As for every one complaining about lore, yes the actual lore behind the races that made them unplayable can be used as an argument but using all the event stuff cant, Not everything that happens in MMOs are canon.
