I imagine a moba style mechanic would work.

Healers are hardly OP. Cut their survivability by even 5% further and it'd be a nonstop kill-the-healer farm. It already is for less skilled healers and scholars, even.Slow GCDs, slow server ticks making melee almost unplayable in some situations, healers being overpowered (These are supposed be the guys in need of protection, not the ones you avoid like the plague in 1v1 situations), etc.
There are a lot of things keeping me from enjoying XIV's PvP even a fraction as much as WoW's.
I'm not a PvP player but wouldn't mind the game having more options for those that like it. It would also be nice to have another option for something to do even though I'm not a huge fan.
I don't get why part of FFXIV community is so hardcore against Square Enix even thinking about PVP. Stop being so selfish so our game can grow and be better and have more options for everyone else, this type of mindset only hurts the game. PvErs and even crafters/gatheres (that are optional classes) get content almost every patch. I mean even people with houses get new content every patch. PvPers getting something won't hurt your content at all.

thing is, SE have to spend resource on pvp development.I'm not a PvP player but wouldn't mind the game having more options for those that like it. It would also be nice to have another option for something to do even though I'm not a huge fan.

dont get me wrong, I like pvp, used to play it a lot in BDO, GW2, ArcheAge, but coming to this game, I play it for pve and chilling, because the combat is so bad for pvp, it's slow and clunky.
unless SE decide to revamp the entire combat system, FFXIV pvp wont be a thing.
PvP as it is now is way better than how it was back then. Yes I like simplified, I don't want to RPG everything about PvP. I want to go in like a fighting game with a set balance and not have to worry about special skills or special stats etc.
But it's really not better, the simplified PvP has made atleast 10 hardcore Pvpers I know who did the feast, had feast mounts, and all the FL win mounts, quit.
The people who actually like PvP are now being told "It is now way better" by people who hardly PvP at all

I guess I'm just used to the WoW design where healers tend to do such piddly amounts of damage that they're forced into a supportive role (There were a couple specs with more offensive presence last I played, but it was still overall much lower then in XIV) as opposed to exerting enough offensive presence to force people to back off, since they have little chance of victory in a 1v1 situation against a tank or DPS there. As a healer main in pvp, I think you missed the point of healers. It's not quite about how killable they are, it's all about juggling your own survival with the survival of your team mates. Sure, a healer can be quite unkillable (if Dps and tanks don't work together and use all of their toolkit) if they focus all their heals on themself. But this means their team mates will die from no heals, and they'll most likely lose. The feast is a good example of this.
Or let me put it this way. If a healer and a Dps are doing a 1v1 in frontlines or feast, both if them are stupid. Dps cannot take down a healer without help, and is wasting his time. A healer 1v1 a dps would win the fight, but lose the battle, as their team is dying due to their healer 1v1ing and not healing them.
It doesn't actually take them that long to kill a DPS in XIV by comparison, though calling them "overpowered" was probably just a knee-jerk response from my PTSD of my group being overwhelmed by swarms of healers at the center point in Rival Wings. It might not have been a problem if people actually knew how to focus fire them down, but...

Yeah that is a problem, people not knowing, or even caring enough to focus them down. It is my belief that if PvP was made more fun an engaging, more people would actually be interested in playing properly and actually actively learning how to win and trying to win.It doesn't actually take them that long to kill a DPS in XIV by comparison, though calling them "overpowered" was probably just a knee-jerk response from my PTSD of my group being overwhelmed by swarms of healers at the center point in Rival Wings. Right now people are just like "Bleeeh, PvP, I hate that I HAVE to do this for *insert cosmetic item here* that I want" and don't enjoy it enough to try their hardest.
PVP can be fun but right now in it's current iteration it's "OK." Right now it just feels like it's there. I think it's an improvement of what it was at one time but it just doesn't have enough to make it gripping to me.
