They gave a reason why they use the number system in English, compared to the more "traditional" system. To a degree it makes sense, but also it doesn't make sense. If we knew what the material system was like on the German and French clients, that might shed some light for us, since that was an example they gave. Also, while it's not impossible, given how the spell system seems to work, along with the traditional Japanese system, seeing a spell greater than IV/Ja seems unlikely. There are a Sa and Da suffix, but they are usually lower tiered when/if they appear in a game.
