"Because video game music is obviously mediocre and repetitive, only a nerd with no life whatsoever can like them."Why are people so biased against a song composed for videogames? One day I played My Hands from XIII for my mom and she loved it but when I told her it was from my game. . . Well now I can barely play FF music without someone telling me to turn it off. (Even with headphones on)
There's your reason.
the so called new music is old music too it was in the alpha .dat they just took awhile to use it. there alot of unused stuff in the .dat's, just like in most game there stuff there thats never used or it takes forever to add.
Wrong.
Just like damn near everything else you say... most of these are actually newly arranged tracks, even if Nobuo wrote them, these versions of them are as new as new can be.
That aside, the theme for The Maelstrom sounds so Mizuta that even just by hearing it I know he had a hand in that. A few of the others as well but that one is just so... obvious.
Those tracks I'm pretty sure are all written and arranged by him. I haven't hear any tracks previously in the dats that sound anything like them.Wrong.

Not only Mizuta, but yeah.
Most tracks released recently are definitely not done by Nobuo, neither arranges of Nobuo songs. The only exceptions are the Company Chocobo Theme (arrange surely not done by him, but the chocobo theme is obviously nobuo), Zahar'ak's theme (arrange not by nobuo, but the original song is) and Natalan's Theme (old song already in the dats since forever).
Most of Nobuo music is is very good. Plus I agree they should shift some of the music around, and add some new ones because some of the originals seem out of place.
If I remember correctly Nobuo, had only concept art work to help him develop music for the game. If he was given a chance to run through the game as it is now I'm sure he can create some amazing work.
I only really liked the old shroud (especially at night) and the la noscea music. The rest of them wasn't that memorable. I like the new music and the direction they are taking, but i hate the new la noscea music.
Actually, FFXIV music files are vorbis files with spoofed header. I saw a website showing which bytes you have to swap to restore the header and make the file playable.

all of the music is quite good and one of the game's strong points.
Like about every composer? Or do you really think they write music after the game is completly done? They have to rely on the unfinished game, always. If I remember correctly Nobuo, hadonlyconcept art work to help him develop music for the game.
Um...
You see, the thing is a lot of composers usually have more to go on than just concept art, as explained already -- Especially when it comes to other forms of media. Composers usually write music during an Alpha build of a game, when there's a general "mold" of the world and events in place. Some, from experience, even do it after the game is near completion to get an even more engaging soundtrack going, especially since the sound design is also usually done by the composer.
