It would sound a lot better, even a slight recomposition in LoV RE:2 has better sound:

It's partially why Nobuo likely wanted to redo some tracks, because it's pretty clear that the original soundtrack could have been much better and he felt the same -- That's the beauty of MMOs, you can even update the soundtrack if you so wish to.

Yes. I was going to mention this, but wanted to go through the comments in the thread first. I don't really think it's so much the tracks, but the quality of them that really cheapens them.

In fact, all of the music that we've got recently are all written by Nobuo, but are rearranged by whoever is doing them now (Don't remember names, I know they're mentioned in this thread and have their own XIV music blog). So, actually some of you are still listening to tracks by Nobuo and don't even know it. This is what Alzelia is basically pointing out. It's not really so much the writing as it is the quality of the recording and the arrangement.

Nobuo written these tracks based on concept and if you look at it like that it might have made more sense. It could have been what you're hearing in concept and not actually what they ultimately shaped the game to be in the end due to all of their ridiculous restrictions with crystal tools. I still think Nobuo is an amazing composer and FFXIV doesn't give him much credit.

Back to the new tracks, the GC track played in that action cut scene is actually this song by Nobuo and just rearranged:

    Original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...1wI0RuM#t=135s

    Rearranged: http://youtu.be/b4Nszi0kigE

This was always the case even with the new chunk of tracks the major patch before this. They were all (Edit: maybe should say most as I haven't confirmed all of them) Nobuo written tracks.

Wow, Nobuo fanboyism up in this thread. Just because he did some awesome work in the past doesn't mean he didn't drop the ball with XIV's soundtrack, which is pretty damn awful save for a few select pieces. Most of the songs either don't suit whatever area the music is for, or just sound off as a battle track.

The new music is a vast improvement and if they're gonna remake EVERYTHING, I wouldn't be upset if a proper soundtrack came with the package. Especially now that Naoshi Mizuta is on the team.

Sorry guys, Uematsu was good, but he messed this one up. Instanced raid boss music is an amazing track though, I'll give him that one.

I actually agree with OP... kinda. I think the rock music of Guildleves and battle themes fit the idea for the "other" FFXIV. The game is changing and the music needs to also. It could stay until 2.0 but once the world changes it needs to change as well. (Which I'm sure it would anyway) However it would be cool if the new composers could do a remix of some sort of these songs that would better fit the theme and mood the game is going towards while still keeping Uematsu's original melody.

Also agree a little with Demacia, this games soundtrack isn't all that memorable save for a few songs. It feels like even Uematsu was rushed when creating the soundtrack.

This isn't fanboyism. I actually prefer the new tracks WAY over the old ones, but as I explained above, those tracks you just mentioned were not written by Mizuta. They are written by Nobuo. I was just pointing out what people are not getting.

People over here defending Nobuo and scoffing at new tracks then people on the other side trashing him and praising new tracks. What some of you don't get is they are all Noubo tracks. Even the new ones, they are just arranged by someone else to fit the game as it is now. Where Nobuo didn't have that luxury. He had to write AND arrange the tracks using just concept.

I never said that they were written by Mizuta, but he's part of the team now with Uematsu. Which is how it was in early FFXI, which is what made that soundtrack so godlike. I don't need any of that crazy electric gibberish music.

Yeah, I agree with you. It's completely off. I understand how others feel regarding some tracks remaining the same as they were released, but you can tell there was a disconnect somewhere in regards of the music and the actual finished product. The game's music was clearly based on something different in concept while it was being written and this is something that needs a lot of tweaking.

If the data files wen't so annoying to deal with in terms of swapping music or adding distant worlds versions to tracks already in the game ---The music tracks in the data files are a headache to edit and have loop-- I'd do this to make the world themes enjoyable to my tastes. However, why should I feel the need to do this? I know I'm not alone in this as I hear this time and time again that the music that was thrown into the game changes the feel to it's surrounding environments.

It's like visiting the grand canyon and having it's theme be Moonlight Sonata... to put it in simple terms. Hey, they needed music implemented and I guess they just had to use what was given to them no matter the end product of what they developed. It just fell completely flat.

    I do, troll.......

FF music especially if done by Nobuo Uematsu is outstanding, even more so when redone by an Orchestra.

Why are people so biased against a song composed for videogames? One day I played My Hands from XIII for my mom and she loved it but when I told her it was from my game. . . Well now I can barely play FF music without someone telling me to turn it off. (Even with headphones on)
