Core i7-980x OC @ 4ghz
Liquid cooling
6 Gigs of DDR3 Ram
Dual HD 5970's
1100W PSU
1.5TB 500gbx4 HD in Raid 5
Windows 7 64Bit
My settings are 1920x1080
2x AA
Drawing Quality Highest
Backround quality Highest
Shadow Detail Highest
Texture Quality Highest
Texture Filtering Highest
Ambient and Depth off
I lowered the AA to 2X because it any higher was too bad of a performance hit and didnt change the quality much at all. I would rather have the game run @ 60FPS 100% of the time and not look as well.
The newest AMD Drivers and the updates that XIV have made really helped performance. When the game was first released and in beta phase, I had to turn off AA and lower qualities down to standard or else the game crippled my machine.
I hope FFXIV improves the XFire/SLI issues, because my GPU's are not all used even in full screen and my CPU rarely goes above 25% usage but if I enable ambient the game is crippled, not my CPU or GPU's. I believe the issue is in the coding more so than hardware.
If you are using a single monitor, running a game in full screen will turn off aero, there is no need to do so manually.
And this is supposed to boost up performance? What like 4-5 more fps in games?
Edit:
Oh, I play in full screen so I guess it won't boost my performance up.![]()

Pretty average gaming computer here, it was a grizzly beast macheen last year, but reading some of these rigs that you guys have, it is like a 1986 ford festiva
AMD 64 quad core @~3 gigz/8 GB DDR3 ram/dual radeon 5750 crossfirex dilly-o (though only one is ever active)
rest is pretty irrelevant, that's off memory I don't know the specifics
But it is enough to run XIV at:
1920x1080 (windowed)
8x AA
general drawing 8/10
background 3/5
shadows-high
adaptive AI/x8 filtering
and of course Ambient Occlusion is off, because apparently no rig on the planet can handle it yet w/o a hit to framerate, and that was refreshing to see
overall, framerates for this budget machine are pretty solid at these settings
60(capped) in caves/40-50 normal open areas/ and dips to 30 for bad weather and mainly gridania
overall a nice balance or performance, and the game still looks amazing
one thing I would like to know though, has anyone here used crossfire cards successfully on XIV? I have the latest drivers and it still gives me huge issues each time, and I just go back to single card mode. It's not a big deal either way, because a small performance boost isn't really worth having to play full screen mode. Just curious, and hoping it's not a busted card and would rather blame the game itself

So for those who have dabbled in using Ambient Occlusion(I'm afraid my compy would laugh at me then explode if I tried), does it really make that huge of a difference?
Wow lol now that is a system ^^ To all the people talking mean to me... this is what I would of said I had if I was looking to brag ^^. How do you like the dual 5970's? That is insane lol brand new thats like 2k in video cards alone when they first came out. But yeah the SLI/xFire optimizaion is piss poor. :*( How does two run though? Do you have the cooling on the GPU's too? Cause I know those things are very hot ^^Core i7-980x OC @ 4ghz

I think it is coded really poorly. Everyone's system takes a HUGE hit by putting it on. I will go from 60 down to 25-30 if I turn it on, and also probably stutter every where.
Yes JIM I know people who have got their Xfire working fine using some sort of launcher which has all the setting built into it. Not sure but you might have to play in full screen mode though. I wish I could send you an email once I find the name of it.
