    I am glad that they made the change to require cutscenes because it was awful before, when new players would come in and get harassed over choosing to use something the way it was intended to be used by the game design.

    I was always cool with people watching them, before the mandatory rule was added, but having it this way, takes the focus off of the players who want to enjoy the storyline in the duty

    We have a choice and a massive experience point bonus to reward us for running it. When I am in a hurry, I don't do the duty, simple. But I try to run it as often as I have time for, when I need to gain exp fast.

    Right now, with the influx of new players and also those leveling alts for the car mount, its a great time to get that million plus exp bonus by using main scenario roulette!

    Potentially, but it would have the reverse effect and be a problem for someone with genuine disconnection issues - they'd still be locked in the cutscene after everyone else was finished.

    It's also down to how much work they're willing to (or can afford to) actually put into it. Neither unskippable cutscenes or auto-scrolling text are new features added just for this situation. Changing the way the cutscenes are flagged could be a lot of work, especially when simply locking everyone into simultaneous cutscenes has exactly the same effect when the program is being used as intended.


    If someone did genuinely disconnect and logged back in to find everyone else still in the cutscene, they don't have to rush into the next battle just because they physically can - they can stand and wait, or arrange inventory, or desynth stuff, or all the other things we used to be able to do while voluntarily waiting for the one person watching it. (I still have screenshots somewhere of a dance party while waiting at Ultima...)

    How about a debuff where the characters can't move until it falls off? Do debuffs disappear if a person dcs?

    The cutscenes should be cut out of the MSQ roulette and put on an NPC the players can click on to get the cutscenes in a flashback. It's unreasonable to put anyone through a 50 minute long cutscene festival. It was badly designed and they should fix it.

    The solution is... not to do the roulette if you don't want to watch the cutscenes. It is really not complicated. I don't want to sit through them so *drumroll* I don't do the roulette. They could pull them back out, but then they would tank the rewards. Pick one: Cutscenes or extra rewards. You aren't going to get both.

    Get real, I play alts who are forced to sit through them. New players on my runs complain about how short the fights are and how long the cutscenes are.

    Nobody likes the 8 mans, they're badly designed.

    Would you expect someone to only watch the action scenes in a movie, with the option of seeing the dialogue sometime later stripped of the action, and come away feeling like they've watched a coherent movie? Because that's exactly the effect that would have.

    This is the climax of the game, and the dungeons are designed to give it to them as a sequential movie of action and dialogue. It's a pity they didn't foresee the issues of doing that in a multiplayer game, but we're stuck with it. You can queue to rewatch the movie, or leave it.

    And yes, it's pretty tedious after umpteen viewings - but on the first time through, it was amazing. It doesn't feel as slow when you're trying to take it all in.

    I have a friend that just started not to long ago. he got to 50 and I said "Nice. Almost time to do the 8 mans. but be prepared one will take about 40 mins" He bought the story skip. No lie.

    Get real, alts only have to do it once per-character. Any further is your choice.
