Honestly, I wonder if the reason the implementation of this took so long, and ended up being just a copy/paste of the female version is because they either just put it off and put it off until they realized how long it had been since they said it was coming and had to slap something together last minute, or if our wonderful dev team was so uncomfortable at the very idea of male sex appeal that the bluescreened and couldn't come up with anything...

My tentative assumption is that they pieced it together at the last minute. To their credit, the development team has proven capable of creating glamour that accentuates the male form in a way that is conventionally attractive. So I do find it odd that they couldn't think of something better for the bunny suit.

I mean again, the line is translated there are other words that he could have said that could translate to weird, he could have meant "difficult" or "hard" it's hard to do a one to one claim of intent when the speaker doesn't speak english. Translators can make mistakes.

Does anyone know where I might read or watch the interview in question in Japanese? Because that sort of mistake would not be difficult to check.

I can't really think of any word you could substitute for 'weird' there that would make the quote better, though. Hard or difficult? What's so much more difficult about making males based on rabbits than females? Especially when the females more or less follow his later suggestion of rabbit ears + Miqo'te head + Elezen body?

This worries me, I won't lie. Look at their reasoning for adding male Hroths - they wanted to diversify the races, right? But what did the females get? Tol waifus with bunny ears. Elezen + Bunny ears. That doesn't do much for diversity, now does it?

So, did they decide that giving female Viera was more important than the aesthetic diversity among the females? If so, why not give us bunny boys instead of male Hroths for the same reason, seeing how chances are that they'd be much more played than male Hroths going by existing numbers (specifically male Roes)? And if that's not it and they truly did think female Viera brought something new to the table... 1. why wouldn't bunny boys? 2. ....really? Really?!

Yeah I honestly fear that too. Especially after the english lore about Hrotgar included the point that males look bestial...which can kinda hint that females would look different. I am already sad that female Au Ra look more human compared to their male counterparts and after knowing that Lakshmi was changed because Yoshida wanted something more younger...Please SE lets have at least one race where the females truly look fierce too (unlike the female Vieras..that are described as fierce but seemingly behave kinda cute too). And no this does not even mean that they have to be as buff as the males. I would be perfectly fine with them looking like female Ronsos.

Also because I still see it from time to time why exactly are some people saying that we have enough slim races thus Viera should be muscular too? Lets see: AuRa, Highlander, Roes, Hrothgar..all of those are muscled. So with the new race we have four races that are muscled and three out of those are even large. Lalas are their own category with neither being slim nor do they have muscles. That still leaves Elezen, Midlander and Miqote. So even if we count all three of them as slim that makes it three races. Thus those that want muscled races already have more to choose from. So why do some still state that we need even more races like that? Another muscled race would just tip the balance even more thus Viera male kinda would fit more into the slim/large or slim /medium category since that would give each side four races. (And no just because you dont like any of the choices does not suddenly change that number) Heck we could even argue if the three races are truly counting as slim or not but that would only make it even more obvious that we have more than enough men with muscles in the game.
