You'd think the sig bunny man looked like this...

When the game's story becomes self-aware:
Yes, this seems about right.
Don't forget a little puffball tail!
There is no information apart from a few translated words. Ffs relax.

Yeah, it's just all those things in combination. There's good art of slim male Viera, but that piece is by far one of the most unappealing I've seen.
When the game's story becomes self-aware:

I think I've explained reasonably well.
They're setting out the rationale in that section for why they believed Hrothgar did not serve an already existing niche (putting aside whether this is rooted in reality, since Roegadyn have a similar build), whereas Viera men would fit into one and thus would not fill this niche they perceived to be "missing". All they're really saying is that they're closer to Elezen and so would not add as much variety. My point is that they could easily deliver on a physique like the second in the below imagery and nothing about it would be inconsistent with the adjectives they used.

When the game's story becomes self-aware:
No, I don't think you explained reasonably well. Hrothgar is kind of irrelevant to this topic. What I'm talking about is that fact that Yoshida said they were musing on how male viera would look; elezen model with miqo'te esque face. I'm not talking about hrothgar and how it would fill a niche.
I do like the second one in the concept art, but it does not look like the one in your signature. It seems like we both agree the second one in the concept art is nice, but we both disagree about your sig. I find the picture in that signature misleading. If you were to simply tell me you liked the second one in the concept art, I'd be agreeing.
edit: I hit post limit
Yeah, I know you'd think that.

I’m satisfied it was explained well enough, since I also covered that earlier interview. However you’d like to describe it, it was him relaying an idea they were considering. Because of how that interview framed it, you need the the two interviews together to derive anything like a pattern of thought and my point is that the words they’re using are to fix a frame of reference in contrast to Hrothgar. Yes, they will probably be similar to Elezen but like I said, that could also entail a bit more muscle or a bit less.
Now as to that second image, we’ll just have to disagree - for some reason people seem to imbue the guy in the sig with a lot more bulk than is actually there. I don’t know whether it’s because he’s quite ripped, making it seem more pronounced, or what.

I mean Yoshida has gone on record to describe things in interviews that end up exactly how he's described. Blue mage, Red mage, Samurai even hrothgar were described in interviews and later released to the specifications of those comments. I don't think it's too far of a stretch to say they already had/have an idea for the look of male viera but went with Hrothgar because as stated they felt it would fill a more needed Niche.
That being said whatever they do decide to do is up in the air, nevertheless they haven't shown that they accept feedback for graphical designs/updates outside of the gear design contest, I mean look at the Monster hunter event, everyone wanted a monster hunter set but they chose to go with a unique design instead, even the male bunny outfit is just the females tweaked slightly to fit.
I agree with most of what lauront is saying though when comparing the male viera in his sig to the one in the concept art and that's what I think they'll most likely look closer to. A male elezen with broader shoulders and wider pecs, will I cry if they look any different though? not really and I wouldn't call them a waste of resources if they looked like something drastically different.

The concept art looks fairly muscular to me too. I totally get why people are interpreting it in different ways though. They're tall and have slender waists (like Elezen) but they've also got thick, muscled deltoids, pecs, and arms in it. The middle one also looks more built (in general is more thick) than the other two as well, so I think people are unconsciously talking about different individuals when referring to that concept art as a whole.
I could see their builds going a number of ways, depending on what SE decides, but as long as their models are of similar quality to the females I'll be happy.
